Reading this right now. It's trash.
I prefer JR and agape agape and his letters.
>>7700948
>It's trash.
Correction: you are, in fact, trash. Don't hate on a book because you didn't understand it.
>>7700955
I'm not even finished with it yet.
>what is reading comprehension
No wonder you haven't read it.
You are making this too easy.

Finnegans Wake
In Search of Lost Time
>>7701017
How am I trying hard?
>>7701029
Because it's a 100 page long paragraph that is just him ranting directly about everything he's already written
>>7701036
Have you actually read it?
>>7701017
I too prefer Agape Agape to the Recognitions and I have friends.
(I haven't read the Recognitions, though)
>>7701028

money says you haven't read either

save yourself the trouble and just dont

Agape is so very short you could stroll through it without later inconvenience, it reads like equal parts creative non-fiction, (self-)character study and precis of themes. From what I recall it was actually a salvaged non-fiction project.
>>7701032
What is this
>>7702021
a book.
>>7701832
why is that? I already bought it
>>7701898
Though very short, Agape Agape is probably one of his least accessible works, while, though much, much longer, The Recognitions is, in some ways, an easier, more enjoyable read, and it is also, according to Gaddis' best buddy--William Gass--his best work.
>>7702064
whats the difference
The Bible.
>>7702066
good literature is aesthetically lovely but meaningless
>>7702043
No, seriously. I've never seen this
>>7701898
I read a couple of pages of The Recognitions. It's great but extremely dense. I'll read the whole thing eventually but I was mostly just curious about what it was like.
>>7702066
There really isn't one. It's just that most people prefer to be jerked off rather than to watch someone else jerk off. Realistically though, there's nothing inherently "noble" or "great" about the sort of literature or author who inserts the audience's cock into their mouth and sucks like a vacuum, so you can safely ignore any complaints about "masturbatory" writing because literary prostitution isn't better or more respectable in any way.

Someone on here mind characterizing the differences (aesthetic, thematic, et cetera) between Gass and Gaddis? They're names are so similar that I get their works mixed up all the time, and I want to know which of themnot to read first
>>7702128

Please correct that pic.

Proust difficult is myth, he is only long, and "boring" but also very very beautiful, read it, i doubt you will regret

No, I like spreading around erroneous copies and then laughing at other people that use them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The Birds, The Frogs, And The Mosquitoes by Anonymous (author is unknown).
They don't want you to know it exists because it makes kikes really angry.
It's banned in America even though it was written in America.
>>7701028
Finnegans Wake is fun and manageable so long as you pace yourself. If you've read Dubliners, Portrait, and Ulysses you'll more or less get what Joyce was going for even if you don't understand all of the words he made up.
Just don't be like me and try to read a chapter a day, because it'll drive you insane and make you feel like your head's going to explode if you do.
>>7702167
You're right,it technically doesn't exist anymore.
I recently took some books that dont interest me and read detailed summaries instead.
Moby Dick, Anna Karenina and Kite Runner seem they deserve their praise. Les Miserables, Atlas Shrugged, Life of Pi, House of Leaves, Gravity's Rainbow, Fahrenheit 451, Metamorphoses, Cats Cradle and Slaughterhouse Five by comparison are....well i'm glad i didnt read them.
>>7700943
this
>>7702739
congratulations ts on mindlessly accomplishing nothing of note
>>7702755
I dont even know what you are trying to say
>>7702739
If you're not interested in them why would you even read a summary? You sound retarded.
>>7702772
Many of them are very long. Aside from that while i may not have enough interest to read through them in their entirety, i was curious enough to read about what happened without spending the time and effort to go yhroygh it all. They are all famous, praised, and often referenced works.
Chalk it up to my ocpd or perfectionism.
I dont see a need for such insults and negativity
>>7699619
Don Quixote. Mad as he is, he's quite a playful and lovable fellow, and to witness the destruction of him, by destruction the illusions that are his reason for being, is an experience I could not bear.
>>7702782
With some of those works, plot is not too important. For example, to read a summary gives you maybe a quarter of Gravity's Rainbow (excuse my referencing a meme book, but it really is powerful)
>>7700929
Is that a book about my dick?

I'd chalk it up to your need to appear well read.
Be honest, how many real life discussions have you had about moby dick without revealing you only read cliffs notes.
>perfectionist. OCD.
Your such a tortured artist.
>>7701898
It makes very little sense to read Agape Agape first since it's sort of a retrospective look at his works and themes.
>>7703534
I dont doubt that. But its just not for me i guess
>>7703568
not sure if youre insulting me or not. I dont look to be seen as well read, but i was to 1. Understabd when its refernced either as a joke or for plot development ir something and 2. See what there is to learn from it alongside the story.
I have a long list of books i will read in full, along with a list of movies, places to travel, music, video games, topics to study.
All unreasonably large lists that i try to trim in ways that i can justify to myself.
I really dont know why i do it. I think i have a real problem

you do it cause you're a pretentious pseud who has no real talent or worth, and instead tries to convince yourself that you're some sort of an intellectual individual in the vain hope that it will impress others/yourself
