Hi /lit/
Dealing the suicide of my best friend today. I have a hard time feeling emotion, and it is really weighing hard on me.
In some ways, I romanticize suicide and this isn't necessarily surpising. I don't want to be logical about it though. I'm a fan of Cioran and Pessoa, but I'd rather have a dreamier variety of poems and quotes to read.
I'd really like to read some short lines about closure and embracing longing. Just some emotional stuff. Post whatever your favorites are.
Thank you
life's a bitch and then you die
that why we get high
'cause you never know when you're gonna go
I go out to find
The one with whom I've seen all hours' moons
Once the curtains lifted
And he said, "I only swim to you"
Language is such a play -
He called his exit but his eyes irresolute
What pasts still sit today?
I feel I'm walking around in blue
He can hear me sing
He can hear me sing
Though he is far, I'll never lose sight of him.

THE MORE LOVING ONE
by W.H Auden
Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.
How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.
Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.
We're all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.

>Isaiah 40
Comfort, O comfort my people,
says your God.
2
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her
that she has served her term,
that her penalty is paid,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.
3
A voice cries out:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4
Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
5
Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
6
A voice says, “Cry out!”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”
All people are grass,
their constancy is like the flower of the field.
7
The grass withers, the flower fades,
when the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
surely the people are grass.
8
The grass withers, the flower fades;
but the word of our God will stand forever.
9
Get you up to a high mountain,
O Zion, herald of good tidings;[a]
lift up your voice with strength,
O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings,[b]
lift it up, do not fear;
say to the cities of Judah,
“Here is your God!”
10
See, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
11
He will feed his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms,
and carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead the mother sheep.

There are some bands that are writing beautiful poetry in their songs, and pearl jam is not one of them.

Hospice fucking kills me, man.

Wow, I never would have thought this would be applicable for this theme, but it's great. I mean, it's only the first half of the song, but still.

>I can't feel emotion
>I feel the weight of it on me
That's the emotion. You're not in a movie.
