If this was a retelling of genesis, what was Adam's fall?

If this was a retelling of genesis, what was Adam's fall? What was the original sin? The stolen money from his father, maybe? Adam actually seems to be one of the only completely innocent characters in the book. He never undergoes a fall at all.

It isn't a retelling of genesis.
I was a moralistic hamfisted retelling of Cain and Abel story.

A fun read, but not challenging at all.
