I disagree. It's a very nice book for its genre, and I think it manages the element good enough to create a nice atmosphere in the island. The same elements have been re-used so many times that some people may find it boring because they've seen it before, but Ten Little Niggers is where all this kind of story began.
Umineko follows the same idea.
