I've been looking for the same answer for quite a while.
Finally settled on buying this today, as I've heard it's the best annotated version available for non-Muslims

I want to study the Koran and understand islam, but I'm already sold on the concept that Islam is barbaric and incompatible with Western values. I worry that either I'll get a study Koran that's reddit fedora tier or trying to soften how people see the religion.
