>"What programme, what policy would make life under neoliberalism less demeaning for women, queer people and their allies? At the occupy protests, during the spring uprisings around the world, we were asked again and again what our demands were, so that they could be dismissed. Our first demand was not being forced to engage on those terms. We did not want to be invited on to their panel shows or to the bottom of their ballot boxes. We refused the politics of the soundbite. We knew there were no easy answers. Revolution begins with the human imagination. They can come for us with clubs and dogs but as long as we continue to dream of different ways to live, different ways to love and fight and grow old together, they will not win. There is power in the communities built by exiles and outcasts. There is power in the societies of broken kids growing up to change the world, and when it comes down to it we are all broken kids, fucked-up girls and lost boys just waiting to be found. We find each other in the unwatched spaces, the secret places, for as long as they last. We have the tools to build a better world in the wreck of the old one."

Where were you when Laurie Pennie btfo'd white patriarchs?

This board is for discussing literature, not finding cheap excuses to bash women, feminists, and people who generally do not share your particular Weltanschauung.

This is tripe. Adolescent tripe. It belongs in a gutter.

>We refused the politics of the soundbite.
>"I am the 99%"

>we were asked again and again what our demands were, so that they could be dismissed
>we were asked again and again what our demands were, so that they could be understood because they were so incoherent and nonsensical

this passage is parody of modern feminism

if she is feminist she gtfo'ed herself
>>
>>7579747
Literally sides with feminist/leftist ideals fucktard, did ya read it. Also just because someone doesn't adhere to left wing ideology doesn't make them at all invalid, especially to the point one can meme them and say "go back to pol u idiot!xD" you're cringy by suggesting right/conservative opinions are devoid of value, people differ in opinions, be tolerant :^)

dude what a fucking joke that sounds like the hunger games or something.
>>
>>7579764
You're assuming a lot of things I never said.

This is what you should take from my post:

/lit/ is for literature. If you want to talk politics then go to the politics board. I you want to talk about how stupid and worthless women or feminists are then go to /r9k/.

I tried reading her book. It's every bit as self-indulgent as that passage. She's this extremely mainstream Oxford-educated journalist with the nation's ear pressed up against her flapping voice hole and she keeps going on about being weird and fucked-up and revolutionary. I remember watching her declared herself to be a 'revolutionary socialist' at the Oxford Union (to rapturous applause, of course). Yeah, Laurie, I really see you leaping over the barricades. She's a house cat that thinks it's a tiger.

Actually I expanded on things you did say, like accusing OP of bashing women and therefore he must be invalid. I don't agree with bashing women but you've gotta be mighty pretentious to say "get the fug back to pol, you're not leftwing?? Idiot!!11 :DD", just because you don't like it, doesn't not make it a valid and substantial philosophical position (philosophical positions of course including literature)

Go back to reddit, cuck

But he talked about how bad white males (pattiarchs) are
>>
Hilariously typical of women.

>What do you want?
>Ugh, you wouldn't understand.

>Can you explain exactly what you mean by that?
>I am NOT going to let you manipulate me like that.

Laurie Pennie is a ego maniacal demagogue, co-opting the zeitgeist to fit her narrative.

Occupy had pr for the news outlets.

and nobody could decide what issue to tackle first so they all just sat around talking about the ills of the world government bearing down upon us in the mud of our front lawns.

she needs to take he trust fund and make an hbo series jesus fucking christ.

also implying we are devising new toold to destroy the old world.

not too many know how to build societies.
not to many care about the others and their liberty to even try.

This is infantile leftism.

Does anyone know which affluent, hipsterish boheme neighbourhood Laurie Penny lives in?

But verbose way of saying nothing at all, props to Penny.

>>7579764

The guy merely said this is a place for discussing literature, not having circlejerks ala r9k and pol.

Saged and reported.

I'm not saying I'm a feminist or some bullshit, I definitely think certain critiques of female nature valid but I was just saying I'm not like a flat out staunch misogynist
>>
>>7579742

Well, I looked up some of her articles and fell over this. It's a dreadful read. It's an insufferable lady's take on Rodger, the prototype of /r9k/ misogyny.

http://www.newstatesman.com/lifestyle/2014/05/lets-call-isla-vista-killings-what-they-were-misogynist-extremism

If you're in a masochistic mood and choose to pursue this article, which is terrible both in terms of author and subject matter, I invite you to get to the part where she talks about "not all men" in regards to misogynistic violence, and imagine she is talking about "not all muslims" in regards to islamic violence.

"What do we want?"
"We refuse to say!"
"When do we want it?"
"..."

Her prose is awful.
