meanwhile my study has 10,000 copies of the finest critical literature known to mankind, from the Greeks to the Post-Post-Modernists and everything in between, leather-bound and in their respective plastic bubble wraps. no more, no less.
I was speaking with a former high school English teacher about this. From her perspective it really seemed like more girls were interested in language itself than boys. There were definitely more girls taking optional literature classes. I think it has something to do with neurological differences between men and women. You see girls playing with language a lot more than guys, like in silly internet slang ways.
Maybe women are more inclined toward creative expression and men like being clear and concise, speaking generally.
