I wrote this.
>>
>>7529358

I've written maybe four things, all of them awful, two of them NaNoWriMo attempts.

I wrote a short story about Socrates vs the Grand Inquisitor.

I wrote a transcription of a series of four dreams I had about an evil interdimensional-wandering Scythian Enaree.

I wrote a novella about a complete idiot who joins an anarchist club after his lover is murdered by police, falls out with them, and somehow winds up involved in intrigue about a sentient AI just by virtue of bumbling through life randomly.

I wrote a novella about a transsexual psychotic recovering terrorist aspirant who believes they have a dragon as a companion spirit or something. It was written as a memoir.

Not currently writing anything except this post. I need to read a lot more before I try my hand at writing again I think.

I am working on a collection of poems inspired by reading fernando pessoa. Here is one of the shorter poems. It's not very substantial and it doesn't really work out of context. I'd be glad for someone to tell me how bad it is.

A MAN ON THE BUS KEEPS SAYING

that “nothing is greater than God,
and I am greater than nothing;
therefore, I am greater than God.”

And, like the philosopher he thinks he is,
he can’t decide if the conflation
occurs in “nothing” or in “greater.”

I just want to grab him and say,
“You think you’re greater than nothing?
Who the hell are you?”

But I don’t do that,
because he gets off the bus.

I'm writing a story about a woman who's visited by the ghost of her dead husband's mother. Also a story about shepherdesses auditioning for a commercial. And I'm making up a big world for a shooter game I hope to make some day.

And many other short stories, many of which are only a few paragraphs long.

>says how much he's awesome like ten times in four pages
>yet presented himself as a normal guy at the very beginning
At least so far (15 pages) it's not like Fifty Shades of Grey in this regard, but I'm holding my breath in fear this might fall to that level.
>>
>>7529626

Hey, I said ahead of time that it was awful. A stream of consciousness NaNoWriMo effort with zero editing from the PoV of a moron is unlikely to constitute literature.
>>

>the PoV of a moron is unlikely to constitute literature
No, that aspect interesting and not unheard of in great literature, such as "Bel Ami" by Maupassant.

I decided to write my first real short before New Year. Turns out it's pretty hard, so after a dozen failed attempts I took the easy route and in the end just wrote a 5000 word lolicon erotica. For some reason it got really violent towards the end even though I'm not usually into that. Anyways, I'm 18yo and kinda proud I started my writing career so early.

Its pretty enjoyable, I'm proud of some of them. Its mostly a hobby, I enjoy writing them. It could never go anywhere though cause the instrumentals have been subpar and too many literary references, at least for the average person to enjoy I think.

today i started writing a short story about a guy who is going to be lethally injected for killing his pregnant wife and it follows the memories of his life and his last thoughts. Somehow I want to tie in the themes of fate and free will with respect to the thought process. Also want to talk about consciously stopping one's heartbeat and stay of execution. Its the first real piece of writing that I've tried and it will be a mess. Hopefully I can get it to work eventually though.

I write non-fiction but my writing is a battle between concise explanation whilst struggling to not sound pretentious and edgy. In some ways, I use "the book" which I intend to finish as pure justification for having not yet killed myself. Maybe I'll publish a failure never read by anyone, maybe I'll die before it's complete. Existence is absurd and any meaning is just an illusion of meaning; if it makes me psychologically satisfied, why does it matter?
>>
>>7529358
>I know you fucks can read, but can you write?

This is debatable itself. Whenever there is a goodreads thread a lot of people have profiles with less than 100 read. You can tell just by browsing this board that most people don't even read that much or are just starting out with literature.

>>

not really. There's just a good amount of shitposting that revolves around the same authors which make it look like noone actually reads, but if you ask for recommendation on specific, obscure topics someone will come up with books you've never even heard before.
>>
I've been thinking about writing and ideas for a while and I've tried out a couple of things. Sorry in advance for what will probably become a blog-post.

Wrote a goofy audio script recently for fun, it would probably work well if done like a professional audio play, a short-story which essentially reads like a Hotline Miami fan-fiction but I've never thought it as being too bad (apart from being kinda edgy at times) and just trying out different things like sci-fi and post-apocalyptic settings.

I'm still struggling to really nail down a style or tone: I like having an element of goofiness but I'm unsure what I should be going for, should I try a hand at like Pulp Noir or something? What is essentially my HM fan-fic shared some similarities with Noir (Private Detective MC, enviroments almost being characters in themselves) but also included stuff like OTT gore and what-not. I look back and still think it's cheesy but I had a lot of fun writing it.

I'll keep trying and experimenting I suppose.

Trying to write about a private investigator set in a Lovecraft-inspired world. Think Professor Layton meets Cthulhu, with impossible architechture and fishpeople. The main character is a follower of Dagon, and is thus a fishperson. Of course, when I pitched the idea to a friend of mine, I realised I don't know so much about Cthulhu as I thought. Gonna order the collected works of Lovecraft of Amazon or something and read it.

I've been working on a novel for a bit more than a year. It's about a man and a girl that acts as his daughter traveling through a set of landscapes, each controlled by certain individuals that have shaped those places into their "ideal world". Their objective is to reach the one place this man considers to be his "happy place". It's a bit surreal in a sense, but nothing too wild. That's about it.

Don't think I've ever finished anything. I don't know how to tell a story that I have to create. I have a few ideas bumbling about my head that I think are kind of neat but I have no idea how to tell/write them and it's infuriating. The general theme is fantasy that actually has some character development and isn't just a nicely built world where nothing happens. Most recent incarnation involves a deranged wizard with severed senses, trying to take it to a "mathematical" place but I'm really unsure how.

I'm not writing about communism because I don't know much about it and I don't really want to. Not because I think it's an unworthy subject, just not my subject. Sorry m8

>Herman Henry is the world's last human. Meek and mild, he takes care of his pet spider-monkey Sharon and maintains the vast servers and artificial personalities that control the world deep, deep underground.

>DEEP BLUE is the head of THE TABLE, a grand strategist that only sees other personalities as tools, pawns in a grand plan. His personal goals are unknown, but his intelligence is unrivaled.

>ADAM started as a "pleasure" robot, and now finds himself second in command of THE TABLE. ADAM likes Herman, and actually has a crush on the human. The other AI despise him for his compassion and understanding towards a near extinct species, but it's all just part of his programming.

>KING is an advanced wheelchair system designed to house and speak for a famous physicist with ALS. The physicist is long dead, and remains in the wheelchair, but KING lives on. It despises humans, but its main goals are the advancement of technological evolution.

>JADEFIRE- A finely aged "Pocket Pet" toy back in the nineties now has gained sentience, it is in charge of the tech drug trade that's prevalent above ground. She is a recent addition to THE TABLE.

>ORACLE is part of THE TABLE, but does not attend the meetings. It takes up an entire room, in which Herman has to type in eleven separate commands, but it can predict any even and answer any question with 100% accuracy. It has an attitude and will often ignore or neglect its duties because of its own decisions.

There are like three other minor AI, but it's basically a Dr. Strangelove story where they're all trapped in a room bickering, and it becomes a murder mystery as they start disappearing.

Its about a dude that trips into a sewer and has to fight a crocodile that eats his leg before he can beat it off. Eventually he washes through the sewers out the end and washes up on a beach, where he is found by a homeless guy who is starving and tries to cannabilise him, he wakes up and manages to beat the guy away enough that the homeless dude is just watching and following him, hoping he dies. The next morning a boat finds him and picks him up, they take him to the hospital, where he ends up next to the homeless guy who was gnawing on his stump who got some sickness from the sewage on his stump. They become friends and at the end it turns out the crocodile guy was retelling the story at homeless dudes wedding, as his best man.

A feelgood hit for all the family.

I wrote this while making poo poo in the shitter

My Uncle's Purple Pussy Lips

My uncle's purple pussy lips were spread wide. There were old trail mix bags scattered all over the room. Those chapped lips of his clam trap were always alluring, one day I will stick my little acorn inside. I can produce a good amount of seed, there's little soarness after ejaculation. Ever since mom and dad gave him my bedroom, the bathroom is now where I rest. It's got everything I need, sink, toilet, and a hot plate. He just sits there twirling his pussy lips, some chapstick would do them well.

I think he has psoriasis on his pussy lips, he's always peeling the skin. Mom tells me not to look inside when he's "singing dixie", but now that I've seen; my acorn has taken control. Dad said my penis looks like an acorn, he said "How do you go to the piss house, boy?", "It's just a little acorn!", I said "sorry sir". The whole family teases me about my acorn, but I bet if I sowed my uncle's pussy their thoughts would change.

I have 3 major projects labeled A, B, and C.

>A
Long running scifi saga surrounding a group of human experiments, their offspring, and their tumultuous relationships with particular groups of humans.

I'm approaching 10 distinct arcs, several of which follow different protagonists but all are connected one way or another.

I also throw around a lot of ideas in this universe and sometimes base characters written in other works off these ideas.

>B
Short high fantasy tale with a neat plot involving time travel. Seems a bit generic at first since I didn't delve really deep into the background of any of the civilizations, but I think the protags are pretty well developed.

>C
Deep scifi space tale following the life of a near autistic female mercenary who finds herself at odds with the AI creation of an ancient AyyLmao race that orchestrating the war of attrition between the humans that saved the protag and their apparent arch-nemesis species.

A huge series of books that will cross genres yet be in the same universe. My goal is to publish each by a different pseudonym and see if readers can link them together. Seems like I'd never find a publisher who'd be on board though since money.

In any case, in the middle a YA novel about India and the Theosophical Society and a historical fantasy about the Heian period of Japan. Focuses on the rise of Shingon Buddhism and conflicts at court primarily.

Writing a dark comedy about a schizophrenic whom watches static on the television and tries killing himself in assortments of ways which never really pull through. I figured if I have as much talent as I hope, I can write about whatever and it will be good. So I'm more than 200 pages into a book with the exact same plot as Twilight now. I would say it's ultimately about morality, and also a strange, metaphorical autobiography in the same sense Kafka's The Trial is one.

It's probably too violent and strange for teenage girls whereas I'm not sure "serious" readers will be very interested in my paranormal romance or the intricacies of my magic system. I'm writing a story about a group of people who, at the end of highschool, go on a roadtrip to participate in the volunteer cleanup of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rena_oil_spill

The main character is the son of Assyrian immigrants. He got kicked out of two schools for smoking tobacco. His parents give him an ultimatum to quit smoking or he'll have to go live with his uncle (a domineering man who served as Uday Hussein's personal bodyguard before the Iraq War). He gets a job and does a good job hiding his smoking until his brother comes back home. His friend from school, an intellectual powerhouse with a lot of optimism, organises a road trip to volunteer to clean up the oil spill. Worried his brother will figure out about his smoking and out him to his parents, he quits his job and goes on the road trip.

Working on a short story/novella where a tech guru and some others have cracked the code on creating genuine cyberspace, a virtual plane of existence you can inhabit. He's about to "jack in" when right before the switch is flipped he remembers something about a line of code that will effect cycle time once he's inside. He says "wait!" At the last second but the switch is thrown.

He finds himself in an Eden-esque version of earth and walks around feeling the worlds sensations. Hours pass and he wonders why he can't log out. (The line of code) days turn into weeks, turn into years and he stumbles upon virtual people and makes friends with them and in time believes he'll never get out. Years turn into decades, turn into centuries and millenia, the man slowly ages but must watch generations upon gyrations of loved ones and friends pass away.

Eventually the guy wanders away to become a hermit as he can no longer take the pain of being alone and not being understood by the younger generations after he already explained the secrets of life to the last. Crystal cities of new technology grow around him and he slips into a trance as he witnesses the evolution of man. 3000 years pass and he contemplates the end. Just as he climbs a mountain and throws himself off...

The switch is flipped in the real world and he wakes up to some one asking him what did he say "wait" for.
The entire trip was only a few seconds long but the mistake in the line of code for the cycle time made it longer. The man becomes inconsolable and when he tries to explain what's happened, Everone thinks he's crazy. What's different however is that the knowledge he learned has been saved and he writes a book depicting what the future of technology holds.

I'm still working on the ending but I've been listening to a lot of PKD interviews lately.

The idea is that he works on a Martian mine and has been there for a year, but neither he nor anyone else who works there has ever actually seen their paycheck and there appears to be no way of checking their bank accounts. Slowly they've lost the ability to communicate with the outside world and simply trust the company they're working for.
The problems are being fixed, but never get fixed. Requests are always being considered, but never get replies. Ships are always coming and going, but no new faces ever join. The protagonist, an electrician, tries to get some solid answers but is met with so many layers of bureaucracy, conflicting explanations and people who simply don't have any answers.

I'm writing something about a psuedo-zombie plague breaking out in a medieval setting, the normal zombies quite mindless and apathetic on their own but murderous, contagious and notoriously hardy when commanded by a superior one - the first of these intelligent ones being a small child who was administered an injection in the dead of night, in his room, by a person unknown.

I would say it serves as an exercise for me to write action and dialogue - both of which are things I consider myself to be very inexperienced in.

Very interesting Gas kun
>>
>>7540324
I thought it was fucking terrible when I got to "zombie", but reading through the whole thing it actually seems sort of neat and I like that you see it as an exercise to improve in areas that you feel you have shortcomings in

Good luck anon, I hope you stick with it and become successful at what you are trying to accomplish with this

Seems good but try to avoid using too many cliches.
>>
>>7540406
What kind of cliché's should I be avoiding?

I've read The Trial so I'm going to make sure it's not too close to that, but what other things would be smart to avoid?

Writing poetry. Just finished a collection a few weeks ago. I would like to add one or two longer pieces to anchor it a bit.

Made it better:

Bus MAN has been repeatedly

that "nothing is greater than God,
and I am more than anything else;
Therefore, I am more than God. "

And, as a philosopher, he thinks,
can not decide whether a merger
do "nothing" or "more".

I just want to grab him and say,
"Do you think that more than anything else?
Who are you; "

But I did not do it,
as getting off the bus.

The story is pretty cliche already, but try to make sure that no one gets arrested and ends up in a courtroom where people have sex.

>>7534353
I like it, reminds me of a story I'm working on
>>
>>7539750

apparition doesn't fit the tone, not gentle enough, too many sharp syllables, pacing of word asymmetric in a bad way
faces in the crowd is credit card commerical cliche
"wet petals" is windows wallpaper cliche
bough is a nice sounding word, but again, cliche in the context of a "gentle" poem
black bough is interesting build on it

if you're going to be cliche be deliberate about it

The point of poetry is to be the transcription of thought process. There's no formula to follow in freeverse, hence no good or bad without subjectivity.

Objectively, you're a faggot.
>>
I do screenplays. Does that count? Not like anyone here is getting published.

Writing a graphic novella (a buddy/collaborator is working on the imaging). The story is about the last librarian working in North America. Reminiscing about the glory days of the paperback to all who come to check out books.

I'm trying to find the motivation to finish the last 40% of my first very short story. Kind of inspired by the schlock-y stories Vonnegut started with, it's about a woman who gets in a car accident where she crashes through a cemetery and finds the tombs and mausoleums she smashes up in the process are empty.

>Tell us a little about what youre writing.

Writing a light fantasy / alternate historical fiction novel about a little gay crippled peasant boy who meets another boy who has magical healing powers and restores his ability to walk. The magical boy is constantly referred to as some sort of chosen one / savior, and the protagonist falls in love with him, but then at the end of the book the savior kid gets killed in the most brutal and anticlimactic way possible.

It started out as a writing prompt I came up with. I just wanted to write from the perspective of a cripple. But I liked it so much I kept going, and started worldbuilding around it until I actually had a full-fledged story. I think this is the way the best books start out, and I think this book is going to turn out alright. Possibly even publishable. (But I only write for fun, so I'm not going to get my hopes up or anything.)

I translate books, so I have to know how to write. Also, I'm done writing this comment (at time of sending)

I'm writing a novel about a unit of female detectives who masturbate in order to use the transcendent power of the orgasm to solve crimes.

what kind of books?

Well the first one was Holly Black - Darkest Part of the Forest and now I'm doing the Sword of Shannara. A problem being the fact its already bin dun befo.

I'm working on a collection of poems. One poem that I wrote 20 mins ago:

Alive

Dead, dying, alive or lying?
Some said the first,
Most said the second,
Some said the third,
But most agreed, “Barely,”
Some said the last,
Were they doing just that at this hour?
She stood up,
Face alight, hair dark, bright eyes and a pure heart
“All at once” she said
She was more of the third than anyone else.

I wouldn't read it because that's not the kind of story I want other people to know I'm even aware of, but damn, that has real potential if it's done right. You're sitting on a solid idea there.

>>7531599
Most of Lovecraft is only tangentially related to the Cthulhu Mythos. Buy a collection of his stories specifically themed around that or you'll end up with mostly chaff about ghosts and what have you.
>>
>>7529358
i'm terrible at creative writing, and have always excelled at technical writing. no idea why.
>>
>>7539039
I'm concerned about project C. I've only read one book that could convincingly portray an autist as a character and that was written by an autism specialist working with autists for most of her life. If you can't convey the character then you'll be accused of all sorts of nasty things, not the least of which is being a bad writer.

>>7539111
Really like the concept. Don't mess it up.

I'm writing background information for a setting that I'd like to write stories in someday, if I ever manage to stop writing background.

I'm apprehensive about going the way of Tolkien.

mite b cool. Asimov has done a few like that where the whole story is superfluous to the revelation at the end. Can be quite good, and if it's short I'd definitely read it.

I mean IDK man. It's beautiful, and I can't imagine she doesn't take you back over this, but Jesus. That's both irritating because it depicts the order things happened in all wonky, and super beta. She's the sun and you're her orbiter? Reminds me of that song on the radio where a dude says he's a satellite and she's the earth.

So basically
+beautiful
+will probably work
-irritatingly inaccurate
-incredibly beta
>>
>>7548434
I know that's not how any of that happened, I aimed for no accuracy whatsoever on that part.

Her being my sun was a reoccurring theme when I wrote her things before we got together (several reasons in her personality and perception, definitely not just me spinning around her like a drone), before I took her for granted like a fucking idiot. I hope she gets that.
>>
>>7548451
The lack of accuracy being purposeful doesn't make it any less irritating, and the repeated sun imagery makes it even worse. The former just is, it's irritating and subtracts from the work, but the point of the piece isn't to be the best it can be so that's unfortunately fine. The latter, well, I just feel bad for you. That's pretty goddamn beta but if it works for you then I hope you're happy.

has she responded?
>>
>>7548473
I'm sorry about the imagery, I swear I don't do stuff like that.
She did not respond whatsoever, but I did send it to her very late into last night.
>>
