How pleb am I in french /lit/?

Read:
> Some Diderot (2 books)
> Montesquieu's Persan Letters
> Some Voltaire (about 6-7 books)
> Some Molière (about 11-12 plays)
> Some Bantam Star Wars
> A play by Muset
>>
Depends. Did you read these in the original French?
>>
not too pleb just kinda meh. read more prose
>>
You'll always be a plen until you read the complete works of France's greatest writer, Alexandre Dumas.
>>
Where the hell is Hugo ? Or at least Balzac
>>
>>7529058
Kek.
>>7529057
> Prose
>>7529050
I did.
>>
>>7529111
you'll never stop being a pleb if all you read is shitty enlightenment philosophers and star wars.

moliere is the only thing of value you have.
>>
>>7529111
And why didn't you read Baudelaire and Rimbaud's books ?
>>
>>7529111
I recommend Baudelaire then, since you know French. Les Fleurs du mal is one of the finest collections of poetry ever written. Also >>7529095
>>
>>7528790
What the fuck those can't even be considered the greatest or real classics.

Instead of Molière read Racine, and then try at least Hugo, Jules Verne, Balzac, Flaubert, Proust, Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

What is this milquetoast list, transparent wimps all ! You are a bore, an abhorent bore ! Why not advise him to read a petite traduction of Fitzgerald, while you are at it !
OP, disregard this vaurien. Read rather La Fontaine, Ronsard, Rabelais, Rimbaud, Bataille, and Céline.
>>
>>7529134
Because he is a pleb.
>>
>>7528790
Les chants de Maldoror.
>>
>>7529340
Cornegidouille, OP must educate himself
>>
>>7529331
Right, better have him reading random books including fiction and medieval poetry instead of France's greatest classics.

Reading a Balzac or Flaubert will even teach him more about France than half the list you made.
>>
Alright so the consensus is:
> Muh Balzac
> Muh Hugo
> Muh Baudelaire
> Muh Rimbaud
> Muh Flaubert
And other miscs.

Thanks lads, I'll finish reading all those shitty Star wars fanfics first and get over it soon.

France ! Start by learning a thing of Littérature ! Greatest classics, why don't you say it one more time ! Shielding your fondu behind the verdict popular will do nothing about its dull consistence.
Reading a single fable de La Fontaine will teach him, and you, more about the World than ALL of your scribouillards combined.

Why does every French literature thread gets ruined as soon as French appear?
