English haikus suck.
People should never try them.
They never sound good.
Why must this be so?
English is not Japanese,

Haikus only make sense in

If the essence of haiku (as I believe it is, at least in english) is making the reader see more clearly the world (no twisty thoughts), then haiku can work in english.
I don't know what changes in translation from Japanese to English. It may very well be that haikus do something entirely different in Japanese. But that's not a reason to discount all english haikus.
Borges wrote some Tanka by the way, OP may want to check it out.
