Will becoming an alcoholic make me more interesting and thus a better writer? What about extensive traveling? Or promiscuous sex with scores of women?
>>
no, become completely abstinent

>I'm a virgin because I'm abstinent

No, being a good writer tends to make people substance abusers, but the vast majority of substance abusers are not good writers. The same goes for tourists and fornicators.

This anon might have a point: >>7485286 since your average person is Byron tier degenerate these days so being strict with yourself would be a more interesting deviation than just becoming another cunt who fucks a dreadlocked bitch in an Indian hostel after too much cheap liquor.

This. There's an old screenshot from /pol/ where some anon goes on about how wild it is that hardcore spirituality and self-discipline are the new edge and refuge of outsiders in western society.
>>
>>7485283
Being the kind of person that thinks like this means you'll never be interesting no matter what you do.
>>
I would actually like to see someone succeed at being an alcoholic just because they think it's cool. I think you'd give up after day four and think, "What kind of fucked up person would do this to themselves?" Alcoholism is a problem, not a solution.

It can seem pretty romantic until it doesn't. Being an amateur drunk who thinks he's a bohemian can be a good time when your young. The problem is that the real drinking then starts to sneak up on you.

All of those made me just more sad and miserable, and being an alcoholic manwhore has made me lose all sympathy I would have had. Writing will make you a better writer. There is no other way.

>Will becoming an alcoholic make me more interesting and thus a better writer?

no, when you're an addict you quite literally lose time. as in, you can't remember what happened for long periods of time. often i find a poem or a story i have no memory of writing but my productivity was much lower than it was in sobriety and the quality of those works are about the same. rougher due to less editing but more visceral.

it won't make you interesting, just an asshole.

> What about extensive traveling?

no, that's just what the tourist industry wants you to believe. i mean, what they're actually selling you is the promise of connecting with people unlike yourself, and doing that does make you a better writer, but just backpacking your way through the third world doesn't do anything, and if you live in a country heterogenous enough you could achieve the same by moving.

> Or promiscuous sex with scores of women?

does tucker max seem like a good writer?

sure beckett was a man-whore but that was very incidental to his writing. it doesn't seem like a factor unless you want to be the shakespeare of describing sex.

>Will becoming an alcoholic make me more interesting and thus a better writer?

Yes, absolutely!

>What about extensive traveling?

No, terrible idea. Drink heavily and daily! It's the only way.

>Or promiscuous sex with scores of women?

No, no, no! You need to cut yourself off from women, completely isolate yourself. Just drink in your mom's basement all day, and base your notion of femininity off porn and the movie "The Room." This way, your female characters will be different and memorable.
>>
>>7489993
it wouldn't.

try living there for a few years instead of passing through and claiming enlightenment because you've been inside mediterranean pussy.
>>
>>7485283
I dont think so, Anon. A few years ago I flirted with alcoholism and it wasn't a good idea. I did it to feel more outgoing and relaxed, but it just makes you stupid and impulsive. Definitely not in the mood for writing.

On the other hand, fucking lots of women maybe can work because it means that you're relating with other human beings, and in some way, knowing other minds. People have always stories to tell and you can find some inspiration.

watch out lads

I fucked bitches too when I was drunkard tier but it ultimately left me unsatisfied.

I'm glad I had that phase though.
>>
>>7485283
Substance abuse does not a great writer make. Just happens to be many intellectual people throughout history were equally plagued by mental health issues they sedated with alcohol and the likes.

I figured it out one day. We're all God. Everything is a reflection of an aspect of yourself. Females represent your female/creative side. If you fuck them/treat them like objects you fuck your creative side. Make love to women pr leave them altogether, and don't watch porn - that's how you get the creative juices going

Whenever I'm alone my productivity peaks. Then I attract the girls, then I fuck them, then my creativity plummets. Every time
>>
Total alcoholic and terrible writer here. There may or may not be a correlation between the two

>promiscuous sex with scores of women
As if that's even an option

Alcoholism is a really great solution. It solves most problems everyday for about 8 hours, when you drink and you listen to hundreds of songs loud or quiet as fuck, read hours of literature, look out thousands of images of art, girls, culture, fashion, nature and everything else. And afterwards you feel tired and have an alcohol afterglow.

The only thing it can't solve is long term plans and hard work.
>>
>>7487492

yeah, this. look at Shane Macgowan when e was young vs. now. It illustrates the point perfectly.
