What does /lit/ think of Bret Easton Ellis?
>>
He's a fucking faggot and a kike lover
>>
don't know why people like him tbhwy
>>
Inferior to DeLillo and Wallace in every manner conceivable. Also, homosexual.
>>
>>7476138
i will fuck his boipucci
>>
I like his podcast
>>
Faggot, should be gassed.
>>
I usually agree with all the /lit/ards about great novels that are considered overrated on this board, meme trilogy is godly, but American Psycho is definitely overrated, for once /lit/ was wrong.
>>
>>7476198

wut? I thought /lit/ hated American Psycho and just a meme to pretend to like it...?

...unless you're doing that meme right now...?

I'm confused. I've been here too long.

I'm sorry. I must go now.
>>
>>7476138

That's the picture of a man who's been riding the coattails of movies that were better than his book.

He's Neil Gaiman tier. Anybody who says he's their favorite writer, I dismiss.
>>
Less Than Zero is really good, American Psycho has some good bits. That's about it.
>>
solid writer. Glamorama is the GOAT BEE novel, followed by Rules, and his podcast is one of my favorite things.
>>
I will jest infinitely on his grave.
>>
Enjoyable podcast and personality, shit writer.

He's fine, not a great writer but at least readable.
>inb4 u r a fag

boring
>>
I'm a fan of Less Than Zero and American Psycho and the opening to Lunar Park. He's entertaining irl at readings but some of his opinions, like how he trashed judd Nelson on his podcast, are simply obtuse. Of course Judd Nelson isn't going to reveal dirt publicly jfc
>>
>>7476277
I once made a thread saying it was shit, and I got torn to shreds : / Only maybe one or two people in the thread agreed with me.
>>
>Like for months in the spring semester of Y.D.P.A.H. she referred to her own program as 'Madame's Downer-Lit Hour' and read depressing book after depressing book -- Good Morning, Midnight and Maggie: A Girl of the Streets and Giovanni's Room and Under the Volcano, PLUS A TRULY GHASTLY BRET ELLIS PERIOD DURING LENT -- in a monotone, really slowly, night after night. (emphasis mine)

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>7476138
I like him but I wouldn't say he's a great writer.
He's a good writer, though.
I personally enjoyed most of his books.
>>
Amazing writer. Will be remembered for years to come. His prose snap crackles and pops. Every time you open a book with ' bret easton ellis' on the cover, you're looking at words that have been painstakingly considered. This guy can WRITE.
>>
American Psycho was pretty funny. And a few parts gave me boners.
Lunar Park was funny as well. Bret becomes a suburban dad. Hijinks ensue.
Less Than Zero made me feel bad. It was good.

>he's not a great writer
>but he is a good one
Considering the fact he received acclaim for his work, that alone should push him into "great" territory.
>>
American Psycho is a pretty funny book. I liked the parts where he called people faggots.
>>
he has Milo Yiannipoulos and gay porn in his Twitter likes
>>
>>7476138
He's a buttblasted hack who criticizes authors that are better than him.
>>
Is to literature what Linkin Park is to music
>>
I like his podcast and how he constantly bitches about millennials.
>>
Nigga needs to finish up his next book. It's already been 5 years since Imperial Bedrooms. And it took him 5 years to write that less than 200 page ride. He's like a more talented Palahniuk. But, nigga needs to get his shit together and write. 2017 and that book better be thick like the cocks he takes up his ass.
>>
>>7476138

Good writer. Yeah he's gay, so what? It's not like he's one of those flamboyant "activists" waving his dick in everyone's face. He talks normally, he's a great writer, cool guy/10
>>
Pretentious asshole like the rest. Writes well.
>>
Should've killed himself in his late twenties.
>>
>>7477517
I agree with this
>>
>>7476947

I'm a millennial and I constantly bitch about millenials, too.

Hurr durr, le wrong generation?

Yeah. Probably.
>>
>>7476947
I fucking hate how the podcast is basically turning into one of those GamerGate anti-SJW platforms, though.
>>
>>7477373
>talks normally
>nasal drone

kek
>>
>>7477653
He retweeted Milo from Breitbart the other day and my estimation of him plummeted.
>>
>>7477653
>>7477901

Why? Are you a social justice warrior?
>>
>>7477653
>>7477901
>SJW have any merit

>>7477923
That'd be my guess.
>>
>>7477923
>>7477941
Nope, just someone who got bored of talking about how annoying SJWs are about 2 years ago.

>Water is wet guys, amirite?
>>
>>7477923
Not him but how the fuck do you niggers not get bored of talking about le SJWs? It's been the same conversation since before fucking GG and neither sides of the issue show no signs of shutting the fuck up. You people are so fucking boring.
>>
>>7477923
>>7477941
>False dichotomy

Yup, I'm definitely on 4chan
>>
I struggled to get past a quarter of American Psycho because of the long descriptions of suits and other banal objects.

Is it worth plowing through?

I thought this piece he wrote for the NY Times recently was good though. I agree with most of it.

haha that's fucking awesome. I didn't catch that the first time. I highly recommend Under the Volcano and Good Morning, Midnight.

dammit chloe, i thought this was a 24 thread

>SJWs aren't the problem
>Just ignore them and they'll go away

No. Those thin-skinned faggots need to be told to shut the fuck up and kill themselves. It's finally starting to come to a head now that the general public is seeing what all this shit is creating.

Vidya games are not getting released in the US and when they are being censored.
Black Lives Matter is a shitshow.
>>
>>7478065
You seem mad online.
Get a life anon instead of wasting it on keyboard wars.
>>
>>7478065
Holy shit fuck off to /pol/ ASAP you paranoid little faggot
>>
>>7478080
>>7478103
>You're mad
>I don't look at the world around me

Seems like your precious Ellis is also needing to fuck off to /pol/ if that's the case. Boo Hoo.
>>
>>7478026

>how the fuck do you niggers
>shut the fuck up
>you people are so fucking boring

>>7478080

>you seem mad
>get a life
>wasting it on keyboard wars

>>7478103

>holy shit fuck off to /pol/ ASAP you paranoid little faggot

This is what the SJW delusion looks like.
>>
i liked Less Than Zero
haven't read anything else from him yet
>>
I read American Psycho and it was alright but he seems like a narcissistic douche.
>>
>>7476138
Greatest living author. By far.
>>
>>7478148
>posts used the words "nigger" and "faggot"
>SJWs wrote them

This is what GamerGate paranoia looks like.
>>
he does cause a lot of ass pain to feminists
they hate him for saying that grils can't direct movies and then naming a dozen or so female directors that he liked
but they just heard the first half and lost their minds
which was funny desu
>>
One of the living writers I admire the most. The rest are women who aren't as public/active on Twitter.

Ever since I read Less Than Zero I've basically been ripping that off in every story I write. That and Jesus' Son.

How many other people wrote and published a GOAT novel at the age of 21 while still in college? That alone makes him special. He's less relevant post-Generation X, but now he gets to occupy the resident crank role, and I appreciate it for the most part. He's a relic of the last era in which you could say your job description was just "novelist".

Probably at the top of my list for writers I wish I could hang out with. Partying with upper class qts, doing a few lines of coke away from the party, ending the night with some cheeky assplay; I'm down.

Watch his interview on The Firing Line if you get the chance. He and qt Fernanda Eberstadt put contemporary next-big-things like Tao Lin and Mira Gonzalez to shame.
>>
>>7478572
kill urself my man
>>
>>7476138
complete hack.
>>
>>7477923
You don't have to be an SJW to recognize that Milo is basically Glenn Beck with more semen in his ass.
