If you had to choose between eating for two days or buying a book you really wanted, which one would you choose?
I'm unfortunately in this position.
Free food is all around you, just hang around a restaurant with an outdoor patio or something and then when they leave, just eat all of their remaining food

i think the first 'hill of stupidity' peak it true
then there's another peak that represents someone acquiring "almost-specialist" knowledge. the peak is reached when the person has read enough genuinely specialist literature on the subject the understand that though he knows massively more than even most people who have a vivid interest in the subject, he still knows significantly less than the foremost experts.
then if a person goes on to obtain foremost-expert level knowledge i think you just get a straight line up.

The willingness to discuss the subjects makes no sense unless the people with whom the subject would discuss in not specified.
If it's in relation with academics and people who are experts in their fields, it would go straight up, for forums and 4chan, I think it's accurate as it is.I went through that phase in my teens, arguing on philosophical themes with who I learnt later was a 40-year-old store employee with no studies aside high school (although he thought himself to be a special genius). Now I think it's kind of sad.
