so I'm writing a paper on the history of Pedophilia and the rise of pro-pedophilia discourse since the 1980's. I already shed some light on Foucault's History of Sexuality, Abnormal lectures, and also want to insert Butler's queer theory. But I don't know. I seem kinda stuck whether we need to consider pedophilia a mental illness or a sexual desire, what society's stance needs to be towards pedophiles and such and so forth.

Can anyone tell me some good academic works on the discourse of pedophilia or some additional literature?

Try using facts and evidence instead of pseudo-intellectual posturing.

Foucault and Butler pseudo-intellectual? Cause you have so much more to say on the topics?

I'm not the one who makes baseless claims and merely postures over sophistry.

Good for you. Don't forget to tip your fedora on the way out.

Are you limited to philosophical/sociological/anthropological works? If not, try PubMed, it should help in regards to the whole 'illness' thing.

Nice argument. Do you just like to quote people and try to sound smart?

Zizek makes an interesting point here. While we've largely incorporated a kind of Freudian view of sexuality (naively put, e.g., repression leads to sadness and mental illness, so be free, open, etc.), we've doubled down not just on anti-paedophilia, but on repudiation of the very notion that children have any kind of erotic drive at all.

(Not in the sense necessarily of p-in-v sex, but in the general functioning of desiring, esp. physical desiring.)

Where does he make this point, specifically? I'd like to know more.

Sorry if I'm being ignorant OP, but why do you see a rise? I see pedophilia in general as something that is increasingly negatively viewed in general as opposed to the recent past (19th century), with age of consent laws and heavy penalties of even the slightest pedophiles, such as the 14 year old boy receiving nudes from his 14 year old girlfriend being charged with creating child pornography.

Closeting and repression of sexuality doesn't make it dissapear. Once the discourse is opened the problems of pedophilia can become adressed and protected from society.

It was in the closet that he began to cultivate his homosexual desires. ‘I couldn’t tell my claque of girls how riveted I’d been on the Prom King’s grinding hips – his football hands stroking Connie’s bare back up and down’ (p. 45). Similarly, Paul speaks of struggling to suppress an impulse to stare at the other boys during high school gym. The language he uses to describe this experience suggests only repression. Yet, Paul relates that these boys became part of his fantasy life. ‘Jerking off every night in the dark thinking about them, summoning them in their nakedness . . . I was able to picture in stupefying detail a hundred different naked bodies . . .’ (pp. 70–71).

Also important to note here that I'm not specifically talking about pedophilia. I'm talking about the opening up of the 'closet' in general, the rise in queer theorists and the rise against socio-structural gender/sexuality.
