99 books so far, would have hit 100 by now but I've been very unwell.

I can usually read about 60 pages an hour on average, but it depends on what kind of book it is.
>>
Depends on the book, 50 is a good mean though

Around 60 for me. Reading my 100th book for this year.
>>
5:07 am. Spent a night studying for finals.

Reading Meditations by Descartes now. Feel like I'm getting maybe 10 pages an hour at this point.
>>
>>7448946

>>
I read 30 pages a day
>>
>>7448946
Usually about 60.
30.
>>
Depends. With easy crap like stephen king i readed like 120/150 pages easily. With Nietzsche it was like 20 or abit more per hour.
>>
About 35~45 an hour, on 51 books this year
>>
>>7448946
it varies
sometimes 5 pages in a minute
other times 5 minutes a page
>>
>>7448946
78 books so far.
>>
Depends on the book. If the prose is amazing then I'll take my time. On average probably 40 or 50.

21 but I read a lot of doorstoppers. Against the Day and JR to name a few
>>
>>7448946
If I'm reading carefully and analyzing the author's style for appropriation, I clock in at around 20 pages an hour. I can speed read 50-60, though. All that matters is that you are getting something from the text; that you are, more or less, understanding it.

I've read 15 books this year.
>>
>>7448946
idk man, 50+ if I'm at least a little dedicated and it's not an archaic text

55 books so far this year
>>
>>7449037

>Not realizing the effect of the combination

Learn to fucking aesthetics.
>>
probably ~35 pages an hour. this year I've read 12 books.
>>
>>7448946

wow who is this snuggle buggle
>>
>>7448946
50-60 per hour; around 30. I played the fuck out of some major vidya releases this year + manga/comics + movies, so this explains the low number. Would be close to 100 otherwise.
>>
Why do you guys put the emphasis on the amount of books you read? It read maybe 10-15 books per year but read it with much care. Then again I do not read the light fluff stuff. I often study the biography, additional notes and watch documentaries on the life of the author/book.

I read about 30 pages an hour and make notes.

>counting

I guess you think it's more important to read as much as possible and actualize your Goodreads' list than actually reading.
>>
How do I stay motivated to read? I have a huge pile of books on my shelf that I want to read, but I always end up distracted after around 30 minutes. It's mainly the urge to go on Steam or to check my phone which results in me sitting on the internet for an hour. I love reading, I have all my life, but I feel like my attention span is quickly diminishing. Does anyone else get this?
>>
>>7449397
Read in places without access to the internet. Leave you phone at home.

I mostly read during the evenings in my bed or early in the morning (I don't take my phone into the bedroom). Sometimes I take my bike out for a ride and go read somewhere in the woods or at the local park if it is sunny.

You're the kind of people who stop midway through a chapter and count how many pages you have left to finish the chapter, aren't you?
>>
>>7449326
this is a serious reader....bragging about racing through books and reading "a book a day" and shit like that is cool in like junior high when you're reading books with dragons on the cover, but if you're serious about literature you need to get over it
>>
5 to 10 pages per hour.
60-70 books this year.

It's easy when you go grad school and get a university position. Read slowly and carefully as fuck, constantly stopping to write or take a stroll around the block... but you do it all fucking day, and that's all you fucking do for $70k.

This doesn't include articles in professional comparative literature or philosophy journals, where it's like another few thousand pages per year...but pages of depressing.

Just kidding, I love you /lit/. But reading many books can really help you understand books too! So I wouldn't look down on people reading a lot too much.

I fell for the trades meme so my eyes are so tired from welding that I haven't read as much as I'm used to this year.
>>
>>7448946
~50-60 per hour, sometimes not that much if I'm annotating heavily.
Always around 180-200 books per year.

Though like >>7449566 said, it's easy to read often when it's what you're paid to do.
>>
>>7448946
I read a book a day.

I probably read at a similar pace to you, i dunno how everyone in this thread can read a page a minute or faster.

I've probably read like 30 books this year, mostly short story collections and poetry though. Only read about four novels
>>
About 30 pages generally
Read 33 books this year, some were quite thin (~70~)

Idk, perhaps 30?
>>
I will be lucky if i read more than 10 pages A DAY

I read about 30 pages an hour.

I've probably read a dozen books this year. I don't want to bother counting, but it's at least one a month.
