I read plenty of trashy genre fiction and enjoy it, but Ready Player One is just cringeworthy pandering to people who grew up with early videogames, with an annoying 'fight da man' narrative that sticks to formula so strictly I'm shocked anyone can read it and not weep at the sheer audacity of cliche.
If I had to sum up the book in 3 words, they would be 'Us Nerds, amirite ;)'

That being said I still actually enjoyed it. Complete pandering garbage obviously and the worst parts of all YA throughout. I'll never read it again, but I enjoyed it for the same reason I enjoy other bad YA like Eragon, and if you like vidya then it's fun trash out of ten.
