Slaughterhouse-Five.
A Confederacy of Dunces.
Brave New World.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

the high end of pleb.
Start with Catcher in the Rye.
Or just play video games and watch Transformers movies. No one is going to give a shit if you read book or not, and if you arent really interested, why bother trying to develop it as a hobby? They are virtually an infinate number of books, more than anyone could read in thier lifetime. If by now, you haven't found an author or a type of book you like, maybe you should just watch sports?
>>
>>7423366
>'but it's right, to be honest"
expressng an opinion like it's an acknowledged, verifiable fact.
It doesn't express honesty. "I think Bill Cosby's dick tastes like bacon, desu' is honesty.
"your opionion is suck, desu'.

As opposed to marxism, which is wallowing in self-pity and being a useless overweight neckbeard, blaming others for his misfortune?

Sounds about right.

There are practical and tangible benefits to improving yourself that have nothing to do with capitalism or being a "self made man" or whatever it is you're getting at.

Do you actually believe this? I was on /lit/ when I was 16 and for some boards like /v/ I'm pretty sure the median age is 16 or 17

is shit. First book I bought when I got on /lit/ years ago and I regret spending the 2 dollars on it. If I wanted to watch a fat man humiliate himself I'd watch brony videos.
>>
Why does /lit/ like reading boring as heck books made by hairy old men instead of fun, entertaining ones
>>
>>7425756

good luck.

Its really good. You need to make sure to read everyday or close to that to make any serious progress though. It took me about 8 months or so but for some months I didn't read it at all. If I had read it for an hour or so every day consistently I probably could have read it in 6 to 8 weeks.
>>
>>7426098
I'm a brony.

>>7424758
Don Quixote is quite simple, so is Proust, actually. typically the difficulty comes from length (proust) or just cultural differences ( don quixote ) definitely don quixote, once you get to the point where sancho panza thinks he's wise and constantly shits out those aphorisms, it really gets quite comical. i remember reading it and realizing "hey, this is supposed to be fucking FUNNY!" it smooth sailing after that. From what i've read of proust, it seems more to be a problem coming to grips with a stream of consciousness rather than any hugely difficult terms or references
>>
>>7423607
>watch Transformers movies
no person who wants to get into movies should start with or ever watch Transformers. Literally the worst piece of shit movie industry has ever crapped out.
