He wrote some excellent short stories. He's the closest I've found to something similar to Borges.

>A high wind in Jamaica

I just started this. The title story is kind of messy (war stuff out a nowhere) but great, the tramp one was a bit eh, but the eye man was cute and the first bit where I got the Borges comparison. Really neat translation too.
Diary Of A Man In Despair is super-interesting
A diary from a far-right monarchist pseudo-Bavarian living under the Nazis, hating Hitler like crazy. Lots of observations on contemporary famous people ("Spengler, you fat sellout fuck")
Life and Fate.
skyfall
hard rain falling
high wind in jamaica
book of ebenzer le page
dirty snow
augustus
tenants of moonbloom
the big clock
slaves of solitude
the lonely passion of judith hearne
two similar books about lonely desperate spinsters living in boarding houses in the 40/50's. both are great. slaves i found surprisingly hilarious at times. judith hearne being even more pathetic and pitiful than i could ever imagine.

The Foundation Pit by Andrey Platonov
Haven't read their Tove Jansson books but I hear they are great. Check them out for Finnish charm.
