He is probably the most readable author ive read in recent memory

9/10 almost bit
I fucking loved Rant and Invisible Monsters. His ability to recognize human desires and then to twist that until it becomes something unrecognizable is wonderful, his experimenting with style is fun, and the monotone drawl of his text is my favorite thing. But he's accessible to "normies", so /lit/ thinks he's stupid. I don't know, maybe it changed, but when I was on here, everyone scoffed at his name.
His biggest downside is that once you've read 5 or so of his books, you just can't deal with any more.
No. Crappy edgelord. Fc was OK, but he is so repetitive. Boring AF.
No. One of the most important parts of good prose is avoidance of linguistic cliche, and his writing's full of it.

Really?
Anyway, I've read most of his books and I like his earlier stuff like Invisible Monsters, Haunted, and of course Rant (easily his best book imo), all the way up to Pygmy. Then he did indeed become a crappy writer with Tell-All (a horrendous book he should be savagely beaten for writing) and those damn Damned novels.
Oh, and Stranger than Fiction was good, too.
I loved him when I was a teenager. I still like his books. I read back Invisible Monsters and Survival, once in a while.
I didn't like that much the novel of a foreign exchange student (forgot the title) I wanted it to be edgier and more to the guts.
Couldn't finish Porn.
Haunted was pretty much okay.
I wouldn't recommend him for his literary skills, though, I only appreciate his narratives.

Do educate me on what linguistic clichés are.

Fight club and rant were excellent. But I found lullabye snuff and survivor to be meh.

Now pick a page of Palahniuk and circle all the cliches as an exercise
Diary is shit.
Survivor is excellent, Haunted has good short stories.
His gimmicks get old quick once you've read 4 of his novels.
By now he's all gimmicks and nothing else. Too bad.
Shit genre fiction. Belongs in the trash.

Yes. Many people. Most of them Redditors.

I've always suspected Palahniuk of being a 4chan shitposter. Anyone else?

That is such a shitty fucking page, good christ

the "epic battle" shit is stupid and I would murder anyone who wrote that or didn't think it was cliche but otherwise it's spot on

Do you mean Snuff? I actually kinds liked that one. Pygmy was the last I read. I guess I kinda aged out of them.
Snuff, Fight Club, Choke and Survivor are the four I remember fondly
