Reading this after some /pol/ threads on the TV series caught my interest.
So far it's fucking retarded. This is alternate history that a 6th grader would have thought of.
>Germany beat Russia instantly cuz good ole USA wasn't there
>hurrr space nazis
>SLAVERY REINSTATED (wut)
>Africa is kill
>Japanese are not so bad and pretty honoribur
I'm only on chapter 2 but I'm wondering if I should keep going. Does it actually get good, or does it belong in the trash.
Pretty sure this is a far better alternate history novel than MITHC

I have read that book, it's retarded.
Not worth reading honestly.
Also, I don't remember anything about space nazis.

Try to read it as propaganda from that universe.
If you're looking for "realistic" sf avoid Phillip K Dick. It's not really about nazis anyway but about the nature of authenticity and truth.
Content aside I really like the covers for this book.

I guess. Honestly I've read a few of his short stories and from what I've read I can't fucking stand is writing style, I don't really know why either.
It's not supposed to be alternate history in the modern "autistic man plans out a fan fiction where his favourite bad guys won" sense. For rigorousness of setting you'll need to look elsewhere. High Castle is more concerned with thematic content than how many Nazis could have danced on the head of a pin if Hitler had pulled the Sixth Army out of Stalingrad.

they literally thought 'ß' was the same as 'b' in English.
It's not babbys first althistory, it's intentionally non-realistic as its a theme that the world is fundementally broken. Conceivable alternate reality was not PKDs project. Weird metaphysical experimentation was

/lit/ is for the discussion of literature. If you want to talk about politics, go to /pol/.
I know you're not making any statements yet, I'm just reminding you.

I think you want the book to be an interesting what if. but that's no what the book is about at all. The books alternative history setting is just a backdrop for Dick's ideas. I still wonder why he chose such a provocative world for the ideas he chose to express though.
If you are just reading for A) plot, or B) cool fantasy world this really isn't the book you want.
>comes from /tv/
>attacks a book because it's not realistic
Not surprising.
The series is very aesthetic.
