Does anyone here actually read? Do you even praise Witold?

Who?

I don't care for Witold.

Unlikely that most of the /lit/ population has ever read Grombrowicz, stubbornly sticking as they are to genre fiction and the so called classics. While he doesn't move me or strike me as particularly ingenious, while there are other narrators whom I hold higher in the scape of surrealist satire, I can still dig his style and his latent, zealous philosophy. I would recommend his later works (Transatlantic or Cosmos) over Ferdydurke, by the way.
>>
Op here thinks he is a genius. Prove me wrong with other authors who did the same thing but better if you can.
>>
I liked Ferdydurke, but I think it was about 2x longer than it should have been. It felt like the same themes were just being rehashed over and over again. I haven't read anything else by Gombrowicz though.

I'd recommend The Street of Crocodiles by Bruno Schulz. By far my favorite Polish book and in my top 20 all-time favorites. It's much wilder and denser and more fantastical than Ferdydurke.

I certainly don't.

I will for now on.

Did my MA thesis on him. What of it? Did you just discover him, OP?

>MA thesis

lol

As a Pole I can't imagine him being translated. His writing is so language-specific and oriented on language games and word building that it kind of amazes me. Anyway - he was a brilliant writer. As someone already has mentioned - Cosmos is by far his most valuable and universal work.
