anthropology was a meme author, and had no discernible talent. he was shitposting, and is literally genre tier fiction. clearly a juvenile author.
>>
How to be an anthropology:
>read Mauss while pacing reverentially in a perfect circle around Durkheim's Elementary Forms, then give Mauss away as a gift to someone
>read Sapir in Chinese
>read Boas in a multicultural crowd
>read Levy-Bruhl while sitting on a copy of Frazer
>read Levi-Strauss while bulking and getting a lot of tattoos
>read Geertz while cutting, and write a cipher to your tattoos' collective inner coherence
>finally, climb onto your roof, and start screaming POSTCOLONIALISM POSTCOLONIALISM POSTCOLONIALISM while surgically altering your gender

Your question is way too vague.

Read some Boas, Lévi-Strauss, and then random ethnographies on cultures you're interested in...

Definitely not the ideal book for you, but it has a lot of stories of the first sympathetic anthropologists ever encountering unknown tribes and what a fuckup they made of it

I took one anthropology class in college. We read Geertz's notes on the balinese cockfight, some book about a guy who was with a bunch of crack dealers in the bronx during the 80s, and some other stuff I don't really remember all that well.

Sounds like you are the next Marshall Sahlins.
>>
>recommend me some non-fiction
>for my worthless humanities brainwashing program
>do you guys have a pre-made list?
