How could some authors write such masterpieces while being constantly drunk/high on drugs? Alcohol kills brain cells, so how could you be productive as a writer while being a drunkard?
I myself can't imagine being intoxicated and able to concentrate to write something.

Also, discuss generally about improving your mental performance.

Highly intelligent people need to dumb down their genius in order to function desu. Smart people tend to get caught up with alcohol, benzos, opiates et cetera. They need to self-medicate their unbearable level of consciousness.

Mediocre people need that extra brain activity boost to do anything remarkable and are susceptible to stimulant addiction.

The real idiots are the ones who praise weed and psychedelics because that's the only way they can glimpse the near crazy state of mind the overly intelligent occupy naturally. Their minds are so dull that they even an artificially induced psychosis is manageable and even enjoyable to them.

If you look at a persons drug use it tells you what he is lacking, what he is supplementing. Great minds always seek some repose from their own greatness. Dull minds always seek to escape their own dullness.

Alcohol killing brain cells is a myth. When that happens it's because an alcoholic is typically lacking in B vitamins, which is what causes the whole "wet brain" thing.

I tend to drink a very large amount and do a lot of depressants in order to calm down my mind. I blame a hyperactive skewed perception of reality on my BPD, psychosis, extreme paranoia, and almost constant state of dissociation.

So yeah I'm an alcoholic.

When you drink a lot it's not as bad as when you're sober-folk.

I drank every day for like 9 months straight and there were times when I couldn't even tell if I was intoxicated or not. It does make some things easier, depending on what kind of mind you have. I had better focus while drunk- while sober my brain would constantly parallel process and it made me seem very detached.

A lot of alcoholic writers don't write while drunk. For instance Hemingway and Faulkner were notorious drunkards but they only wrote sober. (Hemingway's "Write drunk, edit sober" is a misattribution.) The struggle of being an alcoholic writer is that they want to drink all the time, but can't write while intoxicated.

I want to do drugs like dissociatives and get some inspirations from them but i dont have money to be constantly high

You get outside of yourself with booze/rec drugs.

It all depends what you are writing, a paper on scientific subjects when pissed is not going to be a success, conversely a piece of prose when drunk can flow much looser.

Except benzos literally, scientifically verified, make you a mouthbreathing retard. Permanent problems with cognition are seen with long-term abuse. They're the ultimate pleb drug, on par with huffing glue.

As opposed to metaphorically, lad?

It's one thing to be a drunkard and another to become a lazy sloth and full of pity and depravity and fall victim to your vices completely while shutting down your creative, like Kerouac did.

Keruoac is a great example of what an actually alcoholic is like, he could hardly function in his later years. He dies with everyone having a bad taste in their mouths for him outside of his literature works.

Personally, i switch on and off between alcohol and opiates when i write, which is usually after work from six to midnight.

They help me relax and sit down without fidgeting. Unless i'm writing out a new idea, it's difficult for me to sit and write for more than two hours. But with some whiskey in my tea or a couple pills of oxycodone, i can write all day. I try and take a two week break between opiate binges like that, which last 5 days at most. I've been doing it for about 2 years now, but i still have to constantly watch myself.

I don't even want to take drugs. Sometimes I think "could I quit porn?" and the answer is "probably not willfully".
Whatever, infinities of men whacked it for billions of hours since the bonobos. I think of some irish or spanish catholic lad in the 1800's growing up with his ma and his pa and his twelve brothers in a two room and praying at dawn and dusk to glimpse for a second a photograph of a fully clothed woman at the store so he could think about it later. Then I look back at my internet browser and I thank technology.
Is there a drug equivalent to the way pornography exploded since the internet?
>>
>>8169325
No, i haven't.

Having an alternative (i.e., alcohol) helps me keep myself from falling into the habit of using them day after day.

i have a good connection and could become addicted very easily if i wasn't careful. The thought of becoming dependent scares me, because that shit can ruin your life and i love opiates. they really do help me sit down and get the words out on paper. But it hasn't happened yet. I go on them for all five days of a week, and then make myself wait two weeks before i use again.
>>
>>8169375

I tried that quite a few times, always ended up in 15-20 day binges eventually.

Done with that shit. Do be careful. 5 days at a time is already pushing it.

They're really beyond anything else in term of addictive potential.

coffee in the 17th century?
>>

I'm not the anon you're answering to. Never took some real illegal drugs. I have a question:
Did your 15 day binges go like the one in the beginning of Infinite Jest? That passage stuck wit me because it sounded so comfy in a way, almost like going back into the womb.
>>
>>8169397

The womb metaphor really hits the nail on the head.

My binges were actually very productive. I'd read and work 3-4 times more. Oxycodone, counterintuitively, made me very motivated.
