The author David M.J. Aurini once wrote: "If you don't know how to love, all you understand is hate."
And with the narcissism that is widespread through Western culture I have come to understand myself as an expert hater. Such sentiments are extremely profound and deep to me. I would be very interested in others sharing their experiences related to this.
One idea: how can the family hierarchy be good if it is possible of oppression?
How is he going to end this shit?
What will be left to tell of in the third book?
oh man you're in for a treat
second book is the best but third book was fucking great too
not gonna spoil but third book is closer to second book than first, but still pretty distinct

At first I thought this was a painting of a midget sticking his arm into a horse's ass. The crease below the arm being the cleft furrow between the cheeks, and the small horse head foreshortened due to distance as it looks over its shoulder with a grin.
This interpretation, I suspect, is much more interesting. I would not have replied to this livejournal-ass thread if I hadn't been perplexed and astounded by a cartoon depiction of midget bestiality
What's the title of the most charming book you've ever read? Mine is The Napoleon of Notting Hill.
Can lit name an author more charming than Chesterton?

Okay /lit/ I have a hard task, a long while ago, I read a this book briefly. It's illustrations were in the time burton style. It's a young adults level book. The only thing I can remember about it, is that the main character has to care for his fat parents who sit in bed all day. Help me find this book with this bit of information.

Even worse, I don't think the book ever really got popular, only popular enough to make it into my hands. I've been searching for years.

Now that I think about it Spiderclese was scary as fuck
...like this one is. He's my favorite. Post writers that wrote in a unique, inimitable style.
What are /lit/'s thoughts on Atlas Shrugged?

One of the best pieces of literature out there, bar none. As an anti-statist and libertarian, I found it to be a huge influence on my life's philosophy.
Ayn Rand was a sexist
I fell like Randroids and Bronies are different sides if the same pancake.
How is it that the Rage of Achilles gives me chills when I envision it as a man living as a man centuries after it was written? Could something be written now that has such an effect on men thousands of years from now?
Forgive the errors in my post /lit/, I beg of you
Can somebody explain to me why anybody actually likes this beyond "hurr durr muh first modern prose novel in the English language hurr durr" and "hurr durr a women writer in the 17th century feminism yeah hurr durr"?
I understand its importance to the development of English literature as well as Western literature in general but beyond that it's kind of fucking garbage with no actual substance, aside from kind of being a social polemic about slavery, maybe, sort of? and the author's own attempt to rid herself of the guilt associated with...

I've literally never heard of this
What kind of fiction can I read that describes people as greedy, lusting, superficial, shallow creatures unaware of their own motives, but feigning their sense of "just" morality by whatever ignorant and pretentious views of the world and the unmentioned self-importance they have?
I'd really just appreciate a book that kind of tears humanity and any ideas of free-will to shreds?
I've got Stirner and Nietzsche, but I'd like some fiction, because I'm trying to take upon creative writing and would like some references. Some of my favorite...

The Petty Demon by Sologub is exactly what you're looking for. Definitely my first recommendation, even above things like Notes From Underground.

we were in his room after a party
a few drinks in and everything was great
then this moment was punctured by supposedly smooth whispers
which FELT like barbed wire
"TRUST me.."
"come on.."
"don't you love me?"
his hands violated my beautiful brown body
suddenly penetrating me..
the pleasure I gave him
not even Houellebecq dos't know
but the trust he took from me

Yes.
Yes.

What does /lit/ think of Sherlock Holmes?
Very agreeable. Delightfully British. Something about the air of adventure and the tone of propriety, always with a manly dutifulness...it's just refreshing and wholesome.

Ok, that was the wrong webm.
Kind of fell off and became extremely formulaic after the second short story collection. But when it's good it's good. Silver Blaze is GOAT
hooman, all 2 hooman
how human is he, guys? more human than required, certainly
human, huh? try not to go overboard with that
everything in moderation
What does /lit/ think of Ayn Rand? Is she absolutely necessary to read?
I miss when the only rule of /lit/ was "don't talk about Ayn Rand"
The Fountainhead is probably her best book. Atlas Shrugged is a lol-tier political screed, economically and philosophically illiterate, but still somewhat enjoyable if you don't care that the characters are all superficial mary sues.
