This guy gets a lot of elitist criticism for being too broad and too much of a hippy. And a lot of shit from the 'Muh original sources and texts' bitches.
However in terms of putting large needlessly convulute concepts into simple accessible terms he is excellent. This is actually a rare skill and makes him a great teacher.
Honestly I found the way of Zen to be a bit arduous. I like his YouTube lectures though.

Not his best book but yes I agree his lectures are where he shines. A very natural speaker.
I thought the picture you posted was Knausgaard by the look of the thumbnail. They do look kind of similar.
I've never read/listened to Watts or de Botton (apparently they're similar), but I'll keep this recommendation in mind.
>He actually buys pockets instead of hard cover
Explain yourself, faggot.
I'm not gay
Money
Also I mostly read whatever book there is in my family's collection

No, you're a pockethomo.
Let's have a thread about plays, /lit/
What are some of your favorites?
How do your favorite plays stack up against your favorite novels (many seem to have trouble evaluating and comparing worth between the two)?
Do you have a favorite playwright?
First for Shakespeare.
Anybody who could post the first part?

My response to your post.
And Today I Wrote Nothing by Kharms.
A Tale of a Tub
Swift is a cheeky lad.
Cannonball by Joseph McElroy.
How do you guys write?
I usually try and find a quiet seat and get started. I can do about 3-4 fairly good reworked pages per hour.
I'm a believer that men produce the greatest works of art from their loins. All art is an attempt to solicit attention from women and the world, and success as an artist is equivalent in the mind of the artist with sexual success. It is raw sexual desire that produces art. With this in mind, I work myself into a sexual frenzy through edging, and moments before I ejaculate, unable any longer to contain it, I write a few words. Here is what I have so far for my seminal novel.
fuck fuck slutty women eating my fucking cum
Is it right to rewrite a first draft if it's story isn't finished yet?
it's what i do
it's why i've never finished anything
>>7712926
(well, not exclusively why)
no
don't do it
just power through and finish your story then go back and revise
> and but so finally, we reached The End Of The Tour (©2015)

did anybody else feel a sexual tension between dfw and moot in this movie? wew lad
What would be the difference, if any, between someone writing a retro-style sci-fi novel in the style of those from the 60's or 70's, versus someone who had read those books from the 60's or 70's and wasn't aware of anything else?
>>7712498
>And wasn't aware of anything else
What does this mean? Does this human exist in a vacuum or are they living now with all our culture and no other books than 60s-70s sci-fi?
the writer who'd read more would be able to bring a richer experience to the novel and be able to expand the genre.
I don't get your question. The main difference would be that one wrote and published a book as a job while the other reads in his spare time.

Not really, yoiu can read a lot and be a really poor writter. Consimunig isn't training for production.
Is there a way to properly, genuinely transfer from /mu/ to /lit/? I won't shit everything, I promise. I left /mu/ to get away from shit. I'm still into music, and I've always been into books, but now that I'm a little older (i.e. not underage) I feel like I'm ready for some of the harder shit
depends
who's you're waifu?
If you need advice, you're not researching properly.
Listen to dredgs El Cielo and read for whom the bell tolls. Perhaps partake inn drugs and alcohol. See where your mood takes you.
What does /lit/ think of W. B. Yeats?
I heard he was a fascist or something.

It's because you're a faggot, it's not as if anything was going to change anyway. Lasting several years should have at least taught you that it's better just to wait. Wait and wait and wait until the clock runs out of batteries, then replace it's batteries and wait some more.
Let's have this kind of thread again. I made a new chart.
