> “We can be reluctant to recognize how much of our culture was literary, particularly now that so many of the institutional purveyors of literature happily have joined in proclaiming its death. A substantial number of Americans who believe they worship God actually worship three major literary characters: the Yahweh of the J Writer (earliest author of Genesis, Exodus, Numbers), the Jesus of the Gospel of Mark, and Allah of the Koran.”

Anybody know where I can read "Suicide As A Sort of Present" online?
Preferably in PDF form.
No.
Sorry.
That isn't actually a picture of wallace is it? That fucking pose is hilarious.
>>7716015
Maybe if you've actually read DFW you'd realize he describes that pose many times in his works.
P.S. I ordered it because a musician I greatly admire mentioned reading it, in an interview.

It's good if you can't seem to see the forest from the trees, also I don't know where I'm going but I sure know where I've been, girl.
Do any of you use nootropics for reading or writing? I'm so tired and unfocused by the end of the day that it is a struggle to do either for several hours straight. What do you recommend? Not trying to do amphetamines btw
>>7714670

>Is there a problem?
>No, I'm Dunhier
A tale of hubris right at the onset. Here we see a guy who's so full of himself. He boasts that he can work around any problem, because 'He's Dunhier', the legendary thief.
However, almost immediately after his first appearance, he is nonchalantly shot in the back. It really delivers Nolan's message about escalation perfectly; the low life criminals in Gotham have no respect, even for other criminals and their previous merits.

What is the best English translation of the Stranger?
Can any frenchbro recommend English translation that captures the language in same manner as the french version?
matthew ward
it's a simple book. any translation will do.
I read 60 pages of this in the library and it was more understandable and enjoyable than Living in the end times (I enjoyed zizek's videos related to it, but the book was incomprehensible) and first as tragedy then as farce (which is similar to trouble but becomes less comprehensible later, but it's better than end times).
I think this should be the new zizek recommendation for laymen
>mfw even zizek fell for the quirky "john green" font meme
Brb killing myself
