Are there any good books about taking dmt that aren't pseudoscience new wave hippie bullshit?
Or at the very least good books by authors who have taken dmt?

not rly tbqh senpai.
just read mckenna and enjoy psychs for what they are, it's useless to delve into the subject too much.
if you want more concrete info about psychs I think Alexander shulgin has you covered
>working on writing a novel since new years
>vowed I wouldn't quit this time
>progress has slowed to a crawl
>outline without issue but become terrified at the thought of sitting back down and writing more even though what I've been writing has been actually good
>keep trying to tell myself it'll take as long as it takes
how are your projects going /lit/?
Go back and do some editing. That might help jumpstart you

I feel the exact same. Like...word for word. I've had this idea for about 2 months now, maybe playing with the idea even longer, but the only things I've gotten done are the outline and the first chapter, as well as some ideas for the next few chapters.
But yeah. Very slow crawl. Always tell myself the next day will be filled with writing but I usually just sit, get high, and think up new ideas without actually putting them to paper. I text the ideas to myself and they are generally good, ideas that...

Psst. Hey. Yeah, you. OP. Psst. Get off the internet and get back to writing. Quit being a lazy ass and power through this shit.
I know this is one of the better boards, and I'm sorry if I'm sliding off any better threads than this, but I'm looking for recommendations. I'm looking for non-fiction books that teach me how to become successful in life. Since there's a billion of those books out there, it's quite hard to know what is good at first glance. Since I know you guys actually read, I'd like to hear some recommendations.
Books that teach me the basics of making money, becoming successful and rich, etc.
>>7819611
I hear "How to make friends and influence people" is good
but if you want to be rich just become a doctor/dentist
>>7819611
>Books that teach me the basics of making money, becoming successful and rich, etc
Go to school, or community college or something. You won't find what you're looking for in books unless you want toget scammed.
>>7819619
>>7819633
Fair enough. I've read a few books about rhetorics that helped me in my daily life, especially since I'm a flaming autist. Are there any books that teach skills like that? Skills that are needed for succes? Obviously you can't get anywhere if you don't speak properly, unless you want to become an academician, but my family is old money and we've always been entrepreneurs. Gotta fit into the family crew you know.
Is this overrated? I'm at book V and its had some interesting parts but overrall I'm not sure what really makes it such a "classic"?

It's the most famous and powerful conversion story as well a first of its kind in literature.
>>7819618
>most famous and powerful conversion story
Why? Dude was in a cult, studied, repented, and became Christian. How is it a more powerful story than Paul or even just Tertullian/Justin Martyr? Just because this guy wrote a book about it? Or is something coming up that I haven't read yet?
you're probably not ready
Why must one imagine Sisyphus happy, /lit/?
Because he'll never have to read moronic questions on the internet.
>>7819546
Because the self-delusion of happiness is all we have in the bleak and painful world. If we commit to our own ordeal (Sisyphus pushing the boulder up the hill), then we have nothing to live for until we finally die and perish. The brief moments of happiness is all we have, so you better enjoy them, because we will be pushing boulders nonetheless.
>>7819546
One doesn't. One has many more options than Sisyphus' task, even metaphorically.
Where can I make a physical book that's not shit quality?
Maybe you could email someone at a third, fourth rate publishing company with this question.
bump for answers

My cities local book chain has an indie printing press. http://www.tatteredcover.com/do-it-yourself-guidelines-intro
My friend used it. Quality is pretty good.
>>7819675
I'd second this. check to see if you got any local art studios that do printing. You can get some good work and support the local arts.
Which philosophers hold the more peculiar views about truth ?
Truth is a fractal surface, with no solid ground in sight, only little plateaus of metastability.

Here's a question for the anons of /lit/:
Did you ever imagine create a story in your head and let it run for a long period of time? Like a time span of multiple years?
If so, please share with us.
>>7819364
Of course, but nobody would admit it.

We're all anonymous here. Please share.

What is your favourite Shakespearean tragedythat isn't Hamlet?
Hamlet was a comedy senpai, one stupid event or soliloquy one after another, had me in tears.
Probably King Lear, if not for its epic scale mythological aspect, then for its boipussay jester.

/lit/, are there any pieces of literature/books that focus on the history of the Roman Empire during prosperous reigns, such as during the reigns of Augustus or Marcus Aurelius?
I'm very interested in reading books based on their reigns and/or a book written by a successful emperor

Hello, /lit/. I come to you for assistance in writing a charming and inspiring OP that should convince people to join me in rectifying my little problem.
It should be something general that can be applied to any subject.
It's about a children's book series that was suppose to treat its audience with respect, love and fun. But the latter series of books turned out badly, treating its audience like idiots who will never question anything. They treated them like an audience undeserving of quality, only boring stories with unlikable characters preaching immorality...

It's been 3 years since TBE, and it's pretty old, in his 70s. Do you think he's retired, and just hasn't said anything? Or is he working on some cool, new book?

Mason & Dixon and Gravity's Rainbow are his best books. Everything after M&D is dog shit
Probably because 'Pynchon' died in '98
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Gaddis
I wonder if his death will be publicly announced, of we'll only find out through a delayed message from his publisher 3 years after he kicked the bucket.
>>7818579
I want him to write at least one more Mason & Dixon, Gravity's Rainbow or Against the Day. Just one massive tome full of his usual whack shenanigans.
