I'm halfway through the second book and can say it's a pretty solid read so far. A few minor pacing issues here and there but I'm not bothered by a bit of extra flavor and characterization. Recommended to anyone who likes fantasy and especially to fans of Baldur's Gate, as it follows a very similar story progression.

One weird thing tho, maybe the whole point: Ignatius doesn't make any sense, it's hilarious. I can't believe someone so poor who dresses like shit and acts like an asshole is so cultured and disdains pop culture that much. He's really a weird character, I don't even know if I can understand...

Dude, Ignatius is basically an exaggerated /lit/izen neo-reactionary from before the internet was a thing. Every time I see those dudes sincerely posting about degeneracy and Christianity I just imagine it's Ignatius on the other side of the keyboard.
This book doesn't make any sense to me unless I read a chapter summary before going through the chapters myself. I'm only on chapter 8, is this a bad way to be reading? Should I just struggle blindly until I get it on my own?

There's nothing wrong with using a guide or Cliffsnotes. Just don't read the commentaries until after you've finished, but also don't let the commentary decide what the book is about for you. If you haven't figured it out how the puzzle of the books comes together for yourself, commentaries are pretty helpful guides.
