I wrote some prose poetry, if you're interested in reading it, or calling me an uncultured fag--either works--I'll post it below
The clock stared at me; its pale face scowling in my direction, its arms frozen in time. Moonlight crept beside my curtains and illuminated the side of the room on which the clock hung. The closet door stood open, alert, and waiting. My window called to me, begged for my presence, and to the window I went. My feet felt safe on the soft, yellow carpet beneath my bed, but as I made my way to the window, ominous shapes of irascible creatures leered at me, and distrustful objects and electronics snickered in hushed whispers at their plots.
I ventured towards the window; it...

My roomate gave me some Ayn Rand book called the Fountainhead, I don't read much but I heard she sucks
Should I throw it away so it doesn't waste shelf space?
Maybe try and read it and decide for yourself whether she sucks or not.
Or tell him you won't read it because some posters on 4chan said she sucks.
>>8015358
Why would I think for myself when I could listen to what 4chan has decided what's good or not? I've let this site decide everything for me for years and it's never been wrong
That greedy fucking cunt should be erased from history. I consider myself open to ideas of all kinds, but not that kind of reprehensible, dehumanizing bollocks.
So, I did it, I just finished writing my first book.
Yes, I know, it's probably shit and won't lead me nowhere ever, and will never get published but god damn it I DID IT, I fucking FINISHED IT. I wanted to write this ever since I was fucking 12 years old, and yes, there is a lot to edit and whatever but fuck me I did it, it's finished, I typed the last sentence, and I am extremely proud of the whole book.
So, I don't know. How did you felt when you finished your book?
I have not finished it. I do not know that felt as of yet.

>How did you felt
better than you

What is your book about?
I've never written a book, so I don't know how I would felt accomplishing a task like that.
Is he really the greatest living poet?
Where can I read his bigfoot poem? Or any of his work for that matter..
Quite possibly, though I haven't read it. T.S. Eliot was a pretty lousy literary critic but a great poet. By that same logic, Schneider is the worst possible 'literary' critic; therefore he should be the best possible poet.

DESCRIBE HIM TO ME
How important is real life experience when it comes to writing literature? I want to write a story about cheating so I'm thinking about sleeping with a married woman.
Yes, I know it's 'immoral' but shouldn't both the bad and the good of man be found in literature? Plus I will only sleep with a woman who wants to cheat so I'm simply fulfilling the wish of someone who does not wish to stay faithful. If not me, it would be someone else, and it's better that person is me if the world is to be graced with another wonderful contribution to Western canon.
Listen idiot this has nothing to do with literature. Putting your dick in the amoral whore will not give you any insight, a good writer wouldnt have to cheat to write about it. If you want to fuck that slut do it because it feels good, not because of some delusion that it will help you write. Retard. Have you written anything before?
>>8014802
This isn't going to magically make you able to write, similar to how living a plain life won't grant the ability to write a decent novel about one.
look at this faggot who thinks he can get some married pussy and write well. don't even talk about the canon kid youre making me laugh
Just discovered this guy. Did he just win philosophy?
>>8014702
No. Go read something else.
You can't win philosophy. Stirner already won it. Everything after him is just busywork.
>>8014707
Why?
Hey /lit/, I hope you can help me.
I'm looking for novels that can best be described as "horror drama", where there is more emphasis on the drama part.
I'm a fan of the Silent Hill games, not because of the horror aspects but much more because of the characters backgrounds, dealing with loss of a loved one, depression, all that kind of stuff. Basically the characters have to fight their demons who have come to life. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain.
Any recomendations?

Bump for interest.
People who play video games are too stupid to understand good books. So my advice would be to just keep playing your vidya.

The Road its not exactly horror, but maybe you can like
Anyone of /lit/ read this book? I know it is highly controversial but is it rooted in truth or myth? I know some people vigorously support this book while others dismiss it as complete and utter clap trap? What is it though, being as objective as possible?

This has a forward by Glenn Beck. I'd toss it in the mulch pile.
Jefferson was a weird self contradictory kind of guy. He had his good points and bad. It was a different time. Glenn Beck has no excuses
Best translations of Rilke? Specifically Duino Elegies.

Rilke is trash and overrated by plebian tumblr women.
That one kid in Gossip Girl liked Rilke. I'd pass on him desu.
>mfw I identify better and have more sense of community with my characters than my classmates or roommates
The more I try to revert the situation the worst it gets.
are you writing real people? or just how you wish people would be?
>>8014286
This. You shouldn't identify with more than one or two of your characters because then the story is just populated with you and your ideal people as opposed to real people.
>>8014317
I have a huge problem understanding this. I can't say why like A but not B, for example I can't explain why my last house was much better than my actual house. Same applies for characters, they aren't better looking or more interesting but for some reason I just like them.
Did any of you tried to see patterns in your own taste? It's so difficult, no matter how many variables I try to analyze they always conflicting.
