Finally read pic related, I don;t give a fuck about memes or popularity's inexplicable tendency to cheapen a work's value, this was really good.
Thoughts on it?
>>8145836
5/5 as far as I'm concerned, great prose, fun characters, neat little morality play.
>>8145836
It's absolutely excellent and one of my favourite novellas.
>>8145937
I agree wholeheartedly.

Has anyone here had luck with self publishing erotic ebooks?
Some self-piblished erotic books appear to do very well. Particularly on the amazon kindle website. No experience with it myself, just observations.
There's some guy on Amazon who writes books like "Buttfucked by My Gay Tyrannosaurus Rex Boss" and "Turned Gay by My Hugo Award Trophy on Stage" and shit, he has like 100 of them.

Do you have any recommended books on love? Either fiction or nonfiction.
>>8145284
I have none to contribute OP but have a bump because I'm interested too.
Have two:
Plato - Symposium
Turgenev - Torrents of Spring

but if i recommend great books on /lit/, then all the despicable /lit/ poseur fags will pretend they're intelligent and actually able to think. and that will ruin it. much wiser to protect that which is dear to hearts, and not toss our pearls before swine.
What's a book that's actually fun to read?

Does anyone compulsively make lists, reorder them, rewrite them, and inevitably ignore them?
also, rate my list, and show your own?
>>8145020
i always make a list before going to the bookstore and then end up losing it at some point so i have to make a new list every time.
Why didn't you make a .txt list? Waste of paper.
This is an orderly list of sorts
What's the best translation of Beowulf? And no, Tolkien is not an acceptable answer.
read the original, you pathetic pleb
Tolkien translation is absurdly Christianized... Go with Heaney
Seconding Heaney.
I prefer to read a few different translations of a work paired with the original, although this is only really ideal for books you already have great interest in. Beowulf is a good piece for that kind of study.
Why does /lit/ hate this book?
>>8144926
Because it isn't very good
Most people on here seems to think it's at least decent.
It's at least decent
Apologize.

Hello, /lit/
Have any of you read any good books on the history of the Soviet Union, and subsequently on the history of Russia?
Any recommendations you could make? Ideally it'd be written originally in Russian, so that I may read it in its original language
thanks

Would you happen to know of anything written after the collapse that considers the entire time period of the union's existence?
would you read a book about
a world where male children start to be taught from a young age to be flexible so they can suck their own Dicks. eventually an entire self dicksucking generation is born and they realize they no longer need women to be happy. so slowly women start going extinct and the men start creating more men with test tube babies. the book would follow 2 characters. both male. one character would be a normal guy living everyday life in a womanless world. the other male would be with the last vestige of women. the women have created there own hidden village...

You have to much time on your hands, get your head in a book (check the /lit/ sticky for starter books) and you'll grow out of that troll phase you're stuck in.
Your idea has je ne sais quoi, which I like.
Have you ever read more of a meme book?
Thoughts?
>>8144233
This book was much better than Catch 22 (or atleast I thought).
>>8144233
>Have you ever read more of a meme book
Gravity's Rainbow desu
Both are good books.
Catch 22 is my favorite book, but this is Hellers best book.
>DUDE LETS NUKE HALF OF THE EARTH THAT IS A GOOD IDEA

“This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. It’s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm, a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence...

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again,...
