“Why are so many Nazis still alive? What makes them almost immortal?” - Roberto Bolano, Nazi Literature in the Americas
Was Bolano on to something?
Disregarding your opening comment, does anyone else think this "trial" was an atrocity of justice?
Young man, did not participate in the planning of the system or the actual killings. Was drafted for the war, had no choice about it. Spent some months in the camp because he was assigned there.
Sentenced to 5 years.
Seriously, what the fuck? What could he have done differently?
If we, as the western civilization and jews in particular want to convince the world we're not the bad guys here, we're doing a shit job at it.

I didn't follow it.
But seriously, Junger lived past 100, Leni Riefenstahl also..the list goes on
So is Nazi Literature in the Americas any good?
1) Have you read The Wheel of Time series
2) Do you consider it net positive or net negative experience
--
1) Yes
2) There was a time when I cursed I ever started, but now I kind of miss this
No

Thank you for participating in my survey.

1.) No of course not
2.) I consider it a depressing waste of time
Fate stay night is a better-written fantasy epic tale than LoTR.
The essential nature of heroic ideals, and an in-depth exploration on what would motivate someone to follow that path. The idea of selfish actions for selfless reasons. A dilemma between logic and emotion (Rin's conflict). The idea of facades and how we hide ourselves within society. Consequentialism and regret; nihilism (Saber's conflict). Existence and individuality (Shirou's "rebirth" following his death in the fire). The meaning of choice. Contrasting of several different philosophies...

>TFW being compared to Japanese softcore porn crap.
>OP says it's better than your work.

Nasu can cram as many edgy ideas into his visual "novel," it doesn't change the fact it's poorly written by a literary standard.
Not that Tolkien is any better.
What are some good books that discuss topics that are too real for the mainstream corporate oligarchic liberal soulless evil media?
Picture relates. I'm looking for things that will really make me think.
If you think that reading about theories of the world being flat will 'make you think' you should kys or go back to whichever year of B.C. you came here from.
With that being said, Descartes, I guess.

lmao that pic

Whatever dude, some of us strive for knowledge and understanding. Stay a sheep.
Is this book overrated? It's my friends favorite American novel. I was debating reading it
It's a tad overrated but still okay, just read it, it's short.
It's a pretty great book. Fuck how accurate the public perception of it's greatness is.
It's got nothing to do with it being popular, but I really don't like it.
Post the best stream of consciousness in the world.
>Implying streams of consciousness can be good.

Joyce, Woolf, Proust.
Now that the big three are taken care of, the thread can begin.
I'm new to /lit/ and I do not understand why Continental Philosophy is so unpopular here. Do people who post here study philosophy properly, or are they just low self-esteem wannabes who feel the need to denigrate a legitimate philosophical movement just to make themselves feel like they know philosophy?
>denigrate
is that like removing the niggers?
>>8175826
Wisdom > Word Games
because its just a bunch of circular arguments and personal opinions from snake oil salesmen
what did /lit/ think of this book?
>>8175799
It's not obscure enough
>>8175799
I read some of it during reading period in school. It was some light ass reading. I don't remember wtf happened in it. It was many years ago.

>knowing who Ayn Rand is gets you "cool kid points"
I've seen coraline and read an issue of the sandman, I liked them.
My question is are his novels worth reading? He seems to be talented, but I am not a very avid reader.
>>8175785
His comics are better than his novels, you should probably skip them.
But he has good taste.
read Death: The High Cost of Living

Ocean at the End of the Lane is good.
The Bible used to be the linchpin of Western morality, art and literature, but that's passing.
Is there any secular thought to another text that should function as this linchpin? Do you want one? There was a big movement for Shakespeare's corpus to effectively take the place in the Romanticist movement, but that's not as common now except among hold outs like Bloom.
Any thoughts on what would should be THE book?

Need you even ask?
Hey guys, I'm looking for a good English type of name. Between 12-16th century old, it could even be European. I'm writing a short story that takes place in medieval times - Nothing fantasy or anything like that. Reason for I'm asking for a good name on here because all those generators/yahoo's suggestions are garbage of options. I'm just looking for a good large selection of cool/badass sounding names for a medieval knight I could use in my story. It'd be great to see some cool ass names, thanks :)
His persona - Serious, Loyal, Steadfast,...

Eastern European names could work also.

Is this worth my time if I don't care for
>America's history with racism
I yam what I yam.
Yeah. The only scene with evil white characters is the surreal boxing one. Other than that, all the villains are black, including one who manipulates white people and another who is a black supremacist. Well, there is a white villain, but he's not racist, he's a communist leader who is evil for other reasons.
There is also a woman who has fantasies about the narrator raping her like a lusty savage, but she's not really a villain, just someone who makes the narrator feel bummed out.
It's a very good book. Race is a significant issue in it, but...
