Been thinking about reading this. Is it any good?
I'm reading it right now. If you enjoy memes, you'll enjoy it. It's really like if the intelligent people on /tv/ got together and wrote a Constanza parody.
It's very good. However, it's not exactly a deep piece of literature. It's just a really well wound-together story with colorful characters.
Reading right now. Very entertaining and easy to read. Main character is like the precursor to basement dwelling pretentious autists.
What are good books about present events?
put simple: books that tell what's happening now just like history books will one day tell what happened now.
I'm interested mostly in geopolitics and China/Anglosphere.
Something referencing Russia and middle east (and US of course) is also of interest to me.
Thank you.

A newspaper?
Anyone read Donna Tartt - The Secret History?
I did today, boy does that bitch stretch the narrative or what. As soon as the funeral starts (and goes on) the book goes to shit. Literally 50 percent longer than it should be. And aren't the characters shitty and not only because of their characterization.
What did you think?
Some walrus-like visibly-SJW girl in my lit 101 class a couple years ago said The Goldfinch was her favourite book, so I just assumed Donna Tart was trash immediately.
I thought the whole part with them at the house was one of the best parts, fucked up
the rest does drag and become a mess but I also was craving the kind of over-doing it too much detail ending when I first read it
the closeted guy's descent into alcoholism (and the guy twin? I forget) was the worst part, and there only being two (barely there) girl chracters

See, that's the point, Pulitzer used to denote really good lit so I have to check it out. She is good at descriptive language in SH but character motivations, depth, plotting, convos... all generic bestseller crap.
>>8201644
The book took a nosedive as soon the funeral preparations started, even during the whole search, I was incredulous towards the end.
Where do I start with Carl Jung?

Hey, /lit/. Since we realized that there wasn't one yet, and its a form of education that's sorely lacking in modern day we're making a discord chatroom to be a general community of philosophy, and its general overlap with science, sociology, or other forms of theory. As well as to be a community in general.

We only just started up, but this is something that could be useful if if becomes big.
Oh boy I can't wait for the opportunity to read the even LESS carefully thought out and hastily typed words from the fine folks of 4chan

You're free to go to reddit.
This is nothing but dudes posting ass pics. Get an actual philosophy server mate.
>Hey Anon! Glad you could join us for some grub!
>You're a smart guy, tell us, what is justice and the nature of the Good?
nope, you cant greentext with that kind of pic. please dont try again.

They're spooks.
Now hand over a piece-a of my property my dudes
Wow, that's a really deep question.
Well I myself believe that there is an objective truth in the world that binds all mankind toget-
WAIT there's a Nigger inbetween you!
Get out of here!
Has anyone here read some of Peter Sotos' work? I'm deeply interested in both his music and his lit but finding it online is a bitch. If anyone has pdfs or scans please drop em, otherwise I'd just like to hear thoughts/opinions on him.
Buyer's Market fucked me up. I can't help but reel back when I realize that Peter Sotos was a legit pedo.
Like is he truly an artist or actually just a creep? Whitehouse is a band that I find very interesting, yet the music is obviously fucking insane. Peter Sotos was in Whitehouse.
I think he could be mentally ill and dangerous.
>>8201076
I've occasionally seen things about him shitposted here, but I don't get what all the fuss is about. He just seems like an edgelord and likely a criminal. There isn't really anything that exceptional about that.
I can't help but think he masturbates furiously to his works while making them.
Is Anselm's ontological argument sound?
>>8201071
No.

>>8201071
I was stoned the other day and came up with a really watertight theological argument.
Starting from the premise that God is an omnipotent being, we can therefore conclude that even if God didn't exist he would be able to use his unlimited powers to make himself real.
>>8201094
>Starting from the premise that God is
you're begging the question.

>meet a woman in her 20s >she loves literature >Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, TFIOS, the list goes on and on!
Every time. Why do adult woman think reading children's literature is appropriate?
>>8200809
Most Facebook using men do this too, although you could probably add A Song of Ice and Fire to the shitlist.
Who cares dude its just a hobbyt
Those are the female equivalent of dudes who don't read at all. Dunno which one is worse, 2bh.
Is pic related any good?
I quit after like 60 pages of rambling clearly written in a drunken stupor
>>8200700
The fuck you say, it's a quite conventional novel
Just read it, OP. It's pretty good.
this was a minor /lit/ meme for a while
>write 80 words of story
>write 160 words of notes I will have to take into account when I rewrite it later
>>8200588
take the metafictive angle and just publish the notes instead of the story

Nah, they ain't that interesting

Has anyone ever done this?
Are you enjoying Tao Lin's tweets?
His twitter is kind of lame desu, I keep trying to get blocked from it but I guess he doesn't mind criticism
>>8200506
I got blocked ages ago. And I didn't say anything bad.

I like Tao's tweets.
I wish I could be good at twitter.
