I'm looking for philosophic literature that ponders Solipsism, the fact you can only know your mind is real, and nothing else.
descartes, from a very reductionist reading.
the mind's i for accessible philosophy of mind.
not many people write about solipsism specifically because it's an useless thought experiment but a lot of stuff in what i mentioned is relevant.

I'll check it out.
Who are some philosophers who write on the topic of psychedelia, but not on a spiritual level? Who wrote about the failure of man? I'm looking for thing written by intelligent men who saw the "darkness" (the tragedy of life) and were consumed by madness or saw through it and rose above.
Not trying to be edgy, I'm just interested in the pits of man.

>Who wrote about the failure of man
camus nietzsche and emil cioran
>Who are some philosophers who write on the topic of psychedelia

ITT: Absurdist writers better than Camus. I'll start with the obvious, someone who never gets mentioned around here and i can't figure out why.

Beckett gets mentioned here a fair amount.
it's never mentioned because /lit/ is full of idiots who read the most popular work and think they understand the author, so everyone just kind of shrugs of Godot without understanding it and pretend they know beckett.
desu beckett is pretty similar to joyce, if less lyrical. the trilogy is amazing. compagnie is great. most of his plays are good.
even his short stories are really good. everyone should first love as their first beckett.

I should have listened to you guys earlier.
It's teen fiction / Harry Potter rip off. What did you expect?
I thought it was an enjoyable easy read. I'm incredibly busy at work recently preparing texts for students to analyze, so having something mindless like this was fun.
>>7468254
It's definitely garbage. Calling it a Harry potter rip-off can't be right.
I want to learn about literature itself, what defines literature, what literature excludes, and so on.
Is pic related a good place to start my journey?

Guys , In the case of "A clockwork orange" do you prefer the book or the movie?

film omits the last chapter
film has Malcolm McDowell
film has scoring by Wendy Carlos
film wins
Book. Ending was more practical and down to earth. Loved the movie too but the ending was kind of absurdist masterbation.
Film. Kubrick > Burgess. Also the less I have to read or listen to that fucking disgusting chav dialect the better
Does somebody know a fantasy book set in ancient Persia (before Islamic period) ?

All your books are destroyed in a fire.
How do you go about rebuilding your collection?
Buy everything that was burned?
You already read them, just start over buying stuff you haven't read.
Equal parts new and old?
Be honest you motherfuckers.
Download it back
The patrician thing to do is what some Muslim scholars did when their libraries were burned down--transcribe from memory all the destroyed books in your library.
Buy the ones I was most fond of/most read but rebuy them with a mix of newspapers books.
What is a good survey/introduction of Indian Philosophy? And one of Chinese Philosophy?

What is the difference between good literature and bad literature?
Why Ulysses is, objectively, a better work than Ready Player One?
Can the quality of a literary piece be judge after a short time of its creation - like literary critics do-? Or do we consider the quality of a literary work in relation to its influence?
Can be great and non-influential literary works?
