Today, I wrote 1187 words and then I deleted all of it. How was your day /lit/?
ITT: Writers that trigger /lit/
Looking for a writer to rewrite the script of my quest game to make it more Lovecraftian and dark. Half of you is writing your own stuff anyway, help your bro.
Pic from my game.
which hemingway book should i start with?
You can start anywhere and go anywhere. I would recommend starting with his novels and of those the ones that were published in his lifetime. In my experience A Farewell to Arms is the worst received of his novels so maybe start somewhere else.
Well that was a fucking stupid waste of my time.
Describe the first time you saw her, /lit/

We were given this list of "philosophers and thinkers" to help us find references for a paper in my natural resource controversies class.
Hey /lit/, what's a good annotated copy of the Koran? I want something that's informative but doesn't try to shill bullshit like Islam is good or like any other religion.
I've been looking for the same answer for quite a while.
Finally settled on buying this today, as I've heard it's the best annotated version available for non-Muslims
Thanks. Do you know of any annotated collections of hadiths, both sunni and shiit?
I will never understand whats wrong with translations.
Love which moves sun and stars
Lamor che muove il sole e latre stelle
Which moves you more? Of course this one in language closer to you....
There are big amount of books, and those books are famous and really old, and some peoples are spending their lives for work at this one work of art. Many years of research and etc, and they cant even translate a book? Come on
>Ever being done right
Languages are so different from each others that executing completely correct translations are factually impossible.
You simply cannot transcript a text in another language without sacrificing significant portions of the word play that was done by the author of the work.
Is Spinoza worth reading? Nietzsche seems to love him...
Deleuze loved him too... and rightly so.
"Nature has no goals for itself."
“I would warn you that I do not attribute to nature either beauty or deformity, order or confusion. Only in relation to our imagination can things be called beautiful or ugly, well-ordered or confused.”
>Critic Harold Bloom said this of Walt Whitman: "I would go so far as to nominate him as Abraham Lincoln's only rival for greatest American"
Is this guy fucking serious? Lincoln was a dictator, murderer and set a new low for the presidency. He deserved to be shot. Walt Whitman was a not very exceptional American poet.
Is this what qualifies as an intellectual these days? These two as the greatest Americans that ever lived? Can't wait til this guy dies and just becomes completely forgotten and marginal.
let's judge your taste in Shakespeare
Hey /lit/ters, I need help in writing the introduction for some essay I have to do.
It says to write a hook with a build (and I don't know what to write about)
my thesis is
>When analyzing David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, the film breaks conventions of the typical romantic comedy, since there isn’t a typical love triangle and the dialogue isn’t mostly wit-like.
I'm not asking you to write the intro for me, I just want you guys to guide me in the right direction since you guys spend your lives wrting...

the prof said we can steal the formula for now.
I just use it to include the two criteria easily
although, I don't see how any other thesis would be different, they're all going to address that the movie goes or doesn't go by normal romantic film conventions
