I'm looking for a basic introduction to Logic, what book should I start with?
The Logic Manual - Volker Halbach
>>7693233
Thanks.
Believe me, read this: http://www.logicmatters.net/tyl/
Peter Smith was a Professor in Cambridge and now maintains this blog and helps students to start learning logic. This is the best available guide you can find.
I've been studying (and self-studying) logic for 2 to 3 years now, so maybe I can help you with some elementary stuff.
Nonfiction texts on general postmodernist criticism/theory?
Jameson's book is the only significant one I know about, but I he reduces everything to pastiche, which excludes a lot of art that I would deem "postmodernist"
Postmodern Theory, 1999
Hal Foster (ed.), Postmodern Culture, published by Pluto Classics
It's a series of essays by people like Habermas and Baudrillard, though it doesn't focus on literature but art and culture more generally.
Post-memer-ism more like it!
I've recently hired the services of an editor for my book.
I am czech and have only assembled books in my language (I've written three novels) and this is my second time trying to write in english. My first book was miserable beyond redemption.
I am horrifingly insecure because of my lack of experience. I devoted absurd amounts of faith in my editor and I have received her work today but I am kind of... Unsatisfied.
Her work is certainly better written and she is an intelligent individual who has much more experience with the language than I am....

Are you belgian by anychance ?
Dimitri verhulst is a perfect combination between cynical, accesible, hilarious and beautifull prose without becoming a Bukowski rip. Glad to see one of my favourite Belgian writers mentioned here.
Also: How the fuck would you translate "De helaasheid der dingen?"
Great title if you ask me. Same with "Nothing, no one and fairly quiet", "Love unless otherwise mentiond" and "Goddamned days on a goddamned globe".

anthropology was a meme author, and had no discernible talent. he was shitposting, and is literally genre tier fiction. clearly a juvenile author.
How to be an anthropology:
>read Mauss while pacing reverentially in a perfect circle around Durkheim's Elementary Forms, then give Mauss away as a gift to someone
>read Sapir in Chinese
>read Boas in a multicultural crowd
>read Levy-Bruhl while sitting on a copy of Frazer
>read Levi-Strauss while bulking and getting a lot of tattoos
>read Geertz while cutting, and write a cipher...

Daily reminder that you're better off shutting this animu imageboard down right now and opening a book.
Stop memeposting and procrastinating on /lit/
Just fucking do it.

Hi guys. I have great need of Zelazny's story "The Misfit" (Amazing) (October 1963). No scan or anything on the internets. Where can I get it, if I'm living in Ukraine? Please advice.
I see the story has been also published here http://www.nesfa.org/press/Books/Zelazny-1.html
Any download of this book is available neither.

Is there a known paradox anywhere in literature that describes an inability to make up your mind about anything? Something similar to "What the Tortoise Said to Achilles" but not quite so much about laying down rules. I'm looking for a paradox about the human mind, specifically.
The mind is always strengthening some neural pathways while others are weakening from neglect. A good number of books related to psychology and neuroscience (and self-help shit) enjoy pointing out the malleability of the human brain.
Although this understanding of malleability...

I own none, hence the reason for seeking advice.

What does /lit/ think about Arthur C. Clarke? What do you consider his best/worst works?
>>7692708
The beginning of 2001 is awesome, I would read a whole book about Moon-Watcher and his tribe.
>>7692708
Best: Rendezvous with Rama, The City and the Stars
Worst: Imperial Earth, The Deep Range, 2061
>>7692787
I bought Rama a couple of days ago, really enjoying it so far.
Best: 2001, Worst: The Trigger.
What's /lit's opinion on watching tv and tvshows? I notice I get really bored and disengaged after watching too much tv for too long. I also become really sleepy and dull and when I bingewatch too much I notice I can't engage in social interaction that well. I'd rather just be reading.
Anyone have any experience here? I think /lit is one of the few places where people might just instead read all day
>>7692565
i think we generally don't do such things but that's just me
I don't watch TV...
Only anime.
