Just be honest.
Write something like "I Knew I'd Got it in Me so Thit settles That, Thonderbalt Captain Smeth and La Belle Sauvage Pocahonteuse, Way for Wet Week Welikin's Douchka Marianne, The Last of the Fingallians, It Was Me Egged Him on to the Stork Exchange and Lent my Dutiful Face to His Customs, Chee Chee Cheels on their China Miction, Pickedmeup Peters, Lumptytumtumpty had a Big Fall, Pimpimp Pimpimp, Measly Ventures of Two Lice and the Fall of Fruit, The Fokes Family Interior, If my Spreadeagles...

I was told this was the patrician translation of the Iliad. this shit is so dumbed-down it's offensive. did I fall for a joke?
Yes.
>>7699564
Shit. oh well, my library had two other versions, guess I'll try one of those instead
>patrician
>translation from greek
wat?
the classiest of translations is pope, but you don't know what your own words mean so i don't think you'll understand what a poetic translation is either.
get fagles or at most lattimore, plen
How do you archive Retention /lit/?

what's working for you?
Take notes while reading or at least be thinking while reading. At the very least underline/highlight interesting stuff or things that you think might lead somewhere.
Read things as many times as possible.

you are what anons refer to when they talk about cancerous shitposting newfags causing the decline of this board. Being a condescending asshole who contributes nothing (likely due to incompetence or inability to do so) is the mark of a true pleb.

Is he any good? Is he overrated?
>>7699480
he's great and i really like he's writing.
>>7699480
>*******
>>7699480
he's okay. early stories are high school tier fanfic crap, others are good for pulp they are. I like his excessively florid and overwritten over-the-top descriptions, but some find them cringe
>moss and mould of abandonment
>mountainward bolts
>daemonic crescendoes of ululation
>down unlit and illimitable corridors of eldritch phantasy
Is this book good?
Is there a nover version of the Quran?
That sounds fun but why not just read the Bible. It's a fascinating genre in itself

I know, once I did , but I was bored .
Maybe I'm stupid....
This was asked once before on this thread a long time ago... but what are some good programs to use to write? I'm looking for something minimalist. What do you all use?
I have gVim and FocusWriter right now.
Wordpad
It really dosent matter unless you're looking for something to help with organizing notes and chapters
>>7699428
Organizing notes most likely. What's a good way to maintain a database of texts?
>>7699429
You cant go wrong with Scrivener. There are similar programs but none I can immediately recall.
Which protagonist do you most resemble in terms of the lifestyle you lead?

Does Pessoa's poetry survive translation?
Has Materialism defeated everything else? Are there any good refutations of it?
>>7699337
I don't know about refutations, but read up on Russian nihilism, it gives you a good idea of how materialism impacted political thought, if you're interested in it
>>7699337
Borgesian immaterialism, a la Tlön, of course.
>>7699337
You and your picture are creating a false dichotomy between materialism and dualism, while it should be a dichotomy between monism and dualism. Idealism is also a monism, for example, and just like materialism it can't be refuted because it's unfalsifiable.
I personally think "dude everything is matter" and "dude everything is ideas" are rather inconsequential. The "nature of everything" isn't descriptively useful since there is nothing to contrast it with. When...

>tfw can't read anymore
Last year I got back into reading and got particularly good at comprehension for about three months when I had no tv or internet (I am NEET and have no source of income so it was out of my control)
Within weeks of these things, Internet specifically, coming back into my life I stopped reading at all and everytime I try and read now my mind begins to wander and I never finish anything. Is there any way to reverse this that doesn't include going back to hermit mode?
It's hard to get off the internet once you're on it, but it's easier to resist getting on it until you got your shit done.
I generally spend my mornings doing 'useful' stuff and my afternoon doing frivolous stuff. So I get up early, shower, make breakfast, walk 10km, read some philosophy or other non-fiction, maybe meditate and do chores until lunch. After lunch I'm 'free' and just fuck around and do as I please, shitpost, maybe take a nap and such but I generally don't turn my computer on until that point.
Today I...

who's winning the war between the sexes? What fiction is this a theme of?
>>7699281
There is no war against the sexes. There are only your own accomplishments and failures.

Clearly you're a failure.
Gender is performative
What are some good leftist publications?
I subscribe to Economist (which I find to be a bit too topical and spastic) and Foreign Affairs (which I greatly enjoy).
