http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/09/politics/poll-transgender-bathroom-law-north-carolina/

>57% say they oppose laws requiring transgender individuals to use facilities that do not match their gender identity (against 38% who support such laws)
>75% said they support transgender people being afforded protections with regards to employment, housing and public accommodation(compared with 80% who support such protections for gay people)

That's a double digit shift in favor of trans rights, mostly cause GOP voters shifted from overwhelmingly anti trans to a neutral position and you probably owe it to Trump.

Calmly told the world nothing bad has ever happened from letting trans use their restrooms and that bills against them kill jobs. Based Trump.

He still probably shouldn't be president

Desperate lies and all wrong :http://hotair.com/archives/2016/05/09/cnn-poll-57-oppose-bathroom-bills-aimed-at-transgendered/

>The sample included 31% Democrats, 26% Republicans, and 43% independents
That's fewer % democrats than voted in 2012.

1000+ is also large by poll standards.

Sounds nice, but I live in Houston, and I saw firsthand how fear mongering and moral panic took hold of the majority of the otherwise liberal population that voted for HERO to be repealed. The numbers were around 70 to 30 percent.

People are stupid and the majority will continue to be stupid. All you need to do is get a few TERFs to stand up on a soapbox, cherrypick a handful of anecdotes and drum up fear of crossdressing men perving on women in the restroom. It's that easy. There's no better way to demonize a minority than by playing the 'protect the wimminz!' card.
>>
>>6165824
The good news is the longer this stays on the news the weaker those arguments get.

Even the talking heads on Fox now say those arguments are BS, so does Trump and governors like Halie and Deal.

I think this can ultimately do to the same that the debate around Prop8 did for gay panic. The longer this stays, the more people get to see facts, and the more that reasonable figures on the right like Trump say that it's all fear mongering.
>>
>>6165910
>The longer this stays, the more people get to see facts
This is the key!!!
>>
>>6165910
The arguments on both sides are fucking stupid. The for-side supports a law that's impractical to enforce, the against-side supports a law that is effectively telling an entire state "we know you don't accept this, but we're going to make you accept it under threat of force"

Jesus people, just slap together a third bathroom with "Other" on the door and call it a fucking day.
>>
>>6168478
Six in ten of Americans and most Carolinans think the law passed without their consent is dumb. The US govt is helping them fight government overreach.

And like trump says, third bathrooms are stupid ideas that will bankrupt business and towns. They're also discriminatory in their own right or so he says.

Just stop pushing these laws, there wasn't any trouble to begin with like he said.
>>
>>6162778
>People go
>They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate
>There has been so little

This incoherently blabbered soup of words is supposed to resemble some sort of definitive statement?

Trump is a really bad public speaker. That statement is effectively meaningless and he could backtrack on it so quickly without any trouble, just because he stumbles over words like a baboon.
>>

The elected representatives of North Carolina passed the measure.

If the voters of North Carolina disagree with the decision of their representatives, then put it to a ballot vote in November.

Here's the better question - if it was put to a ballot vote and the majority of North Carolina voters supported the measure, would you still be in favor of having the Federal Government come in and overrule the decision of the people?
>>
>>6168664
Trump said everyone supports him. He also says he is heavily backed by experts. Not to mention he says he is a proven leader and an outsider. He promised he'll make America Great Again. You don't hate America, do you?
>>
>>6168626
Have you seen NC electoral districts?
We made gerrymandering into fucking high art
>>
>>6168626
Which are extremely unpopular. In all likelyhood a lot of incumbents in NC will lose office

I don't think it has a good chance of passing but even if it did it's not permisible. The federalist papers talk all the time about how federal involvement was meant to keep state assemblies and mob rule from disenfranchising minorities.

Federalism and rule of law exist for a reason, mobocracy isn't the final say in negative rights.
>>
>>6168626
The voters don't get a say. It doesn't matter whether the bigots approve of us or not - it's 2016 - this is the new norm, deal with it or fuck off.
>>
>>6162778
The fuck? Trannies using restrooms suddenly became an issue? Why the fuck can't this country get their priorities straightened out for once. What the fuck happen to getting big money out of politics? What about auditing the Fed? Nope has to be big huge emphasize on tran women/men using restrooms of their respective gender.

This has got to be one of the dumbest bills and debates I've seen. No really how do the geniuses in North Carolina even plan on enforcing this bill in the first place? Have an a cop near every women's restroom ask for birth certificates? Have them strip them down, message their crotch? An absolute waste of tax-payer money and time. If Repubs are promoting this, they are a joke, they are far from the "fiscal conservatives" the party claims to be. Trumpbart(Breitbart) is an absolute joke of a website, no better than far-leftie sites such as Salon and Gawker. The fuck is wrong with this country.

Maybe he should use a speech compiled by a committee of ghost writers with the aid of focus groups and statistical research and read it off a teleprompter instead.

That'll really appeal to the pro-stuffed shirt demographic. Hell, they can just run a mannequin for office and play text-to-speech speeches.
>>
>>6168829
I liken Trump supporters to Obama supporters in 08; overexcited and delusional. Many young and old progressives/liberals alike thought Obama was going to change the country with his brand of "Hope and Change" only to bail out Wall St. banks with tax-payer money in his first year in office. They wanted the first "African-American" president rather than actually elect someone who is authentic and principled who isn't going to sell out.

Similiarly Trump is offering his kool-aid by convincing his supporters that he is an "outsider" and is against "political correctness." Trump, for being an "outsider" has sure aligned himself well with establishment politicians and media pundits for both parties over the past years, including the Clintons, New York's "Guiliani", Glen Beck, and the list just goes on. Not to mention as a "businessman"(who was gold-spoon fed and inherited the majority of his wealth from his father rather than the rags-to-riches many Trump-tards believe) couldn't manage all of the business he created successfully, and managed to bankrupt not 1 but 4 of his businesses, including Trump Casinos and Resort. Imagine him running the country? An absolute disaster, may as well call him Obama 2.0, just another centrist politician who is going to do what he is told to do. Trumptards will regret electing him when they see him for what he is in his first year and before you know it you'll have many Americans complain about how "corrupted and bad" the government is when in fact, Americans only have themselves to blame and nothing more than that for their blind ignorance and refusal to research the candidates they so fondly support properly before throwing their might behind them.

I could form Lemonade Stand LLC while running a restaurant chain, and then give it up for lost if it loses money after a year, and only lose the money I had put into the LLC. If I gave up on my lemonade stand, it doesn't mean I am personally bankrupt, or that my other LLCs are bankrupt.

If you don't understand the concept of liability limitation and how universally it is used, you should stick to making wise comments about how to flip burgers.
>>
>>6178465
Either way Trump is no master business man. He has barely done anything of worth with his huge inheritance.
>>
>>6178465
Congrats genius. You want a cookie?
Regardless, this only proves my point. Trump wasn't able to manage his businesses properly. He wasn't able to make wise-choices in the field he claims he is an expert of. Not just that but can't pay his workers shit, hired illegal immigrants to build some of his projects, and imported brand-based products from China, a nation who he personally wants to regulate trade with. Trump is a massive hypocrite in all fronts, couldn't even maintain his stance on abortion and taxes properly, and can't even form his own coherent policies? Banning Muslims? Building a wall? Is he serious? You can't ban Muslims because it would infringe on their first ammendment rights to freedom of relgion. He won't be able to convince Mexico to "build that wall" because many of the corporations in this country have a stake in that country including Amazon, Walmart, Mcdonalds, Ford, etc. Plus Trump has softened his stance on immigration. An absolute joke of a candidate, Trumptards are as bad as brain-dead Obama supporters, and /pol/ today is no better than the lefty /pol/ 4chan had back in 07-08. Absolutely awful. And don't get me on Clinton, another horrible candidate.
>>
>>6165707
If we've learned anything from Obama is that it's the administration that runs the presidency so a complete noob can still be president. Just surround Trump with capable people, let him lead, and we'll be fine.

In the name of Trump, the one true prophet.

No, your tears are delicious enough.

>Trump wasn't able to manage his businesses properly.
Business is about getting your average profits up. You may as well call a farmer a failure if one of his potted plants dies while the others live. But as far as he's concerned, a good crop is a good crop. (This is called a "metaphor.")

Trump is a capitalist. He expects businesses to do whatever is most profitable, just as he did. Rather than regulate them like a socialist, he wants to give them incentives to run their businesses in a way that benefits working class American citizens. Give them a reason not to outsource to Mexico, give them a reason to keep their money in the US, etc. It's ideologically consistent.

>Building a wall? Is he serious?

>You can't ban Muslims because it would infringe on their first ammendment rights to freedom of relgion.
Non-Americans don't have American rights. Apparently Nigerians can't even collect American welfare. Crazy, huh? It's almost as if there's some kind of line separating one part of the world from another, a borr-durr, if you will.

I hear a Chinamen got sent to prison for criticising his government. About when do you think the US Army will storm China to defend his constitutional right to free speech? Something's wrong with that picture... Well, not if you ask George Bush, but whatever.

>e won't be able to convince Mexico to "build that wall" because many of the corporations in this country have a stake in that country including Amazon, Walmart, Mcdonalds, Ford, etc.
Import tax. Suddenly it will be much more profitable to have a stake in America.
>>
>>6178678

Not him, but just sayin'... The first person to make a point-by-point post refuting individual sentences loses the argument.

It shows that you're less interested in debating in favor of an opinion, and more interested in "winning" the argument.
>>
>>6178714
Really? I'd argue it's super easy to make a rant and ask your opponent multiple questions to mask the fact that the evidence for your thesis is totally flimsy. You can just throw things until they stick. Where does this idea of taking things point-by-point is bad come from? Not mad, by the way, just wondering if this is some piece of rhetoric you've found somewhere.

I can see if taking things point by point could be considered inefficient, but...

Also not that guy, but whatever.

What collapses the anti-trans laws is that the people pushing for them have very shaky grasp of reality.

You simply can't trust someone's judgement who still believes in angels and devils. We have this actual problem in parts of America, and until we start being embarrassed about it, we'll keep having this bogus destructive laws.

The whole idea that trans people are all sickos who want to use the girls bathroom to watch little suzie pee is beyond ridiculous. It's literally the product of a mind that is experiencing low level psychosis.

It reminds of the worst propaganda you saw from WW2. "The other" is demonized and vilified, so that the in group can feel purged of their own inner evils.

These retard laws are really just about making a stir in the media. They want their views to get attention, and the only way to do that if you have unpopular views is to find ways to force it into the public debate through obstructive acts.
>>
>>6178745

Ranting posts are just as bad in that regard. But even then, your points can flow into each other and form a more cohesive argument, that more pleasant to the eye. Although it can also be used to hide the fact that your argument has no flow or cohesion.

Really, it's all about sticking to the point. A wandering focus may be healthy to the debate, but if someone is trying too hard to move it, they might actually be retreating from what they consider a "loss".
