No, it's just a fact. Sorry if reality offends you, but if you won't do anything the grown-ups will have to make decisions for you.
And there's plenty that could be done to try to minimize it. Most drastically are some totalitarian measures that no one would like. But there certainly are extreme measures that can reduce it. The point is to try to find a good balance.
One I can think of is to outlaw bathhouses/places for casual gay sex completely. Gay bars (all bars, really, but we're in a specific case here) should not have closed off spaces except for bathrooms. It encourages casual sex in the community, hence speeding up spreading of diseases.
There's one easy step. There's plenty more. We can't just give up and let this stuff kill us. If you cared about those AIDS/HIV victims you're so familiar with you'd be fighting to prevent more cases, not fighting to make sure they don't get their feelings hurt.

With a lesbian relationship there's not a man who's worrying about assault charges if he hits a woman back, so it's kind of a free-for-all I guess. Sometimes when things are stressed you just need to get in a fist fight with your girlfreind until things work out, the same as when you sometimes needed to get in a fist fight with a sibling until things worked out.
All this being said, if it is an abusive relationship (constantly beating or belittling someone, using threats of abuse and other scare tactics, forced sex) I think it's fucked up and should not be tolerated. This is where both being women can be a double eyed sword.
