When I was younger, gay men from all age groups would often check out.

Now, as an adult, I look even better than I did in my younger days but I no longer look boyish and have a more mature face. But all the attention from gay men has stopped.
Do gay men have an exclusive preference for young men or is it just more intimidating to probe out a mature looking man?
I understand that youth is an aphrodisiac. Most straight men prefer younger women but they still check beautiful older women. Of course I have to admit that heterosexual men rarely worry about getting their asses kicked if they get caught ogling a pretty woman.

Younger men definitely get the largest share of the market. By a lot. I think that on the sites I went from a reliable catch of several hundred messages accumulating around the clock to eventually like 75 at one point over the course of 18-to-22. And turning 20 was probably the biggest downturn and then 21 would probably be the next. It pisses me off that I didn't make a career out of it - any gay guy could, youth is a rare commodity. And yeah. There are some people who just won't fuck you if you aren't 18 or 19 - like they won't break the law, but they've still got just two years they'll go for.

For example, most of us would agree, straight or gay, that a man like Aaron Eckhart is handsome. Despite being in his mid-fourties, I'm certain that many women including those in their early twenties (or even younger) find him physically appealing, perhaps even more so than most guys their own age.
If I understand correctly, most gay men would acknowledge that he is a classically beautiful men without necessarily wanting to have sex with him. To a gay man, youth still outweighs nearly all the other factors when we only consider physical attraction.

Speaking for myself and gay guys who think like me, going for younger guys is preferred because it allows you to salvage some of your manhood.
