Yeah that's what I am worried about. It's slightly longer than my middle finger so I doubt I'd be able to get the entire thing in to begin with but that is why I wanted to use a condom.The idea is that I could "fish it back" in case something goes wrong. Bad idea?

if you put it in a condom that is unrolled all the way and tied off in a knot in such a way as to keep the toy all the way at the tip of the condom (gives you the most length of unused condom as a tail) then you would probably be ok. You will need to make sure that there is always enough condom hanging out of your ass to retrieve the toy. Flared based toys are usually considered better but they aren't fool-proof either. I've seen some video of a porn star chick at the ER getting a toy removed from her ass. They finally retrieve it and it's a typical large, realistic, flared based dildo that somebody shoved all the way in.
