You're right, though, but even this cheap one sounds beautiful. Yeah, it's kind of insane but at the same time it's like 13 feet of tubing and it takes a shitload of time. If you buy a horn from a guy like Keith Berg it can take a couple years iirc. Plus, if you're a guitarist you might have a fair few instruments, whereas hornists will generally only have one or two.
Fender America do totally shaft guitarists though, my Mexican strat was like $400 (closer to $600 with lace sensors but whatever) and it plays pretty much as well as any. Imo people should really stick to Fender Japan and Mexico if they want any kind of value.

my ibanez was in that $400ish range and plays pretty well. once you get out of that suspect entry level range but still not into the 600/700+ range things are pretty much interchangeable and have to do with personal preference more than anything.
