I'm the same way. Grew up liking guys physically, but was only really romantically attracted to women. I'd say that's pretty normal for transwomen, because seeing a woman naked is pretty tough for some of us, so we try to find sexual relationships where we feel comfortable. Do you happen to be in school? At the university level, there are lgbt groups at almost every school. Why not go there and meet some people?
If you really have social issues, to the point that you have a hard time leaving the house, then I'd suggest you see a therapist to help you figure out what's causing the stress that's keeping you at home. I don't mean for that to sound mean or derisive, but I was in the same place as you for a long time until I sought out help from a therapist. It helped me a ton.
As a last resort, there are always online communities to meet people in. Just be careful to give your trust to anyone online.

The thing is i have plenty of friends, i go out a lot, but i live in a world where everyone wante to find someone of the other gender to get married and i havr children. I know it sounds crazy, but your best option is to just force yourself to interact socially as much as you feel that you're able.
When I was inpatient at the hospital, the only way for me to get out was to attend group therapy. Being forced to talk to the same group every day about things that were really tough for me to talk about was a really therapeutic experience. You should really try and do what you can to force yourself to go to that lgbt group in your region, and try to open up. The more you go, the more comfortable you'll get talking to them, and before long you'll be excited for the next group meeting.
That's the best I can do for you, Anon. Social issues are very personal to each person, and there's no way I could give you any real advice without knowing more about you than you should ever put on the internet. I really hope you can find the right answer for yourself someday <3

Normally, there's a lot of overlap between members and all the groups are good, but there's been a feud between the trans support and GSA last semester. Seems like it's all drama or nothing as far as these things go.

It sounds to me like your girlfriend really cares about you and loves you, but she's worried that you'll change as a person after transition. Try and show her that you'll still be the same person, and that you will always love her. She needs to be validated.
I can understand her wanting to "mark" you, and there are ways to be collared without it looking gaudy and fetishistic. Check out http://www.eternitycollars.com. They sell a classier alternative to a collar, and they are made of titanium, so you never have to take it off. I've been wearing one for over a year now, and it hasn't lost any of it's original luster.
The one thing you should -never- do is change who you are for her sake. If she comes at you with an ultimatum of "don't transition or I'll leave", then you need to be strong and tell her that's who you are, and that you can't and won't change for her.

If you're refering to literally wearing collar IRL, you could use a particular necklace (could be any design fit for the "persona" you need to maintain.) as a symbolic collar for when it would be impractical to wear the real one. It's one thing to be eccentric, but to be open about what, to many people, amounts to a fetish in public is another thing entirely. It may be an art school, but it's still where people try to make connections to others in the community and start to build their brand. Flaunting something that might alienate a group of potential connections, and/or mar your name in the community is not a good idea no matter what your major is. I get that artists are usually out of the norm, but not everyone is picasso. They have to find people who will help them sell their product.
I may not be 100% on this, but that's just what I understand about the culture in universities. This is coming from a business student, though. So, take it with 10 tons of salt.

Art school was weird as hell. Nobody, at least where I went was too interested in making connections and networking (We're here to work on our ~art~ not try to train for a dead end office job like the other majors where we need to suck off the right people to get promoted) but in just making.. stuff. The few hosted shows would have a few well made and interesting pieces, and the someone else would have a grainy video played backwards of them peeing and stepping on small plaster houses and this page long statement about the depth of meaning behind it and how it all started with a drug hallucination where their long dead great great grandparent spoke to them and explained how they were the reincarnation and so on and so forth.
I never to this day figure out how her drug dream resulted in this 2' stucco tree that had to be held together as it kept falling apart as she couldn't figure out how to make it strong enough to stay together. I just built up my portfolio and ran off to another major, but art students got weird as hell. Only way to mar your name was to call out something as being stupid, pretentious and/or a waste of time (see most all postmodern performance art) because then you interrupt the circlejerk and they won't say good things about whatever you shit out.

Art has always been an interesting topic to me. I know nothing about art myself, but I've never been much of a fan of performance or modern art. I'm much more of an aesthetic art kind of person, if that makes sense. I like art that makes me happy when I see it, and makes me feel a sense of wonder at the skill of the artist. Performance art mixes too much faux philosophy into their work just to try and make a point.

The professional artists tend to look down upon the students for their behavior and phrasing, mostly seen as just very naive with things like "Artists shouldn't sell out by making things for sale, the starving artists is the only one making true art."
Depending on the specific subset, I see a few differences. Easy way with photography is to do commissioned work and portraits, they're easy enough and fast enough and pay decently enough that it can cover trips to other places for building up a portfolio, and art oriented prints sell pretty well. The glass artists I know tend to get together into co-ops and collectively sell their work there, commissioned pieces are extremely rare. Sculpture tends to mostly sit for sale in a gallery for a long time before someone eventually buys it, unless you make a lot of smaller pieces and sell them at street fairs.
Solo or doing art related work at a company (ad design, UI design, product concepts, game art, &c) there is one thing I can say: it's all a hell of a lot of work, and most art students won't make it into art jobs.

Depends. I'd say that most of the posters here would be fine dating another mtf girl, but theres always the one or two that wouldn't for one reason or another. I remember one girl saying that she had enough issues with dysphoria, and the idea of bringing another transgirl into her life would double those issues.
I personally have a tough time dating women. I'm more romantically attracted to them than I am to men, but I have really bad envy issues. I find it hard not to constantly mentally compare myself to them, and it just makes me really dysphoric. It's a pretty terrible catch-22 of really only liking girls, but being with a girl (especially sexually) being so dysphoria inducing that it's almost not worth it.

I go to this support/social group for trans youth, it's kinda good so I don't have greentexts to share, sorry.
But it's basically a sausage fest (except it's various flavor of ftm, heh) with the only girls being me and a regular afaik. I'm not even going every time. I am debating leaving my girlfriend. She is cis, and has her own anexity issues. She is uncomfortable with her own vagina, and is constantly sick. She has been taking antidepressant medication since she was 14 and was recently diagnosed with ADD.
She is currently working three jobs while finishing her master's degree, but I have been out and working for almost three years with what you might call a computer science degree.
We started dating before I transitioned. She is Bi so that helps. We have been together for a year and a half, but she moved away and for the last 10 months we have been dating long distance. She does try to be supportive of me and everything, but she doesn't really have time for me. I don't feel good about the relationship right now and I have been getting ready to quit my job and move across the country to be with her. However things are really tough for me with my transition and tension with my family etc. I would be leaving behind all my current friends and support systems and the city I have been in the last 7 years to be with her.
I love her and she does love me. However, I am feeling much less confidant about spending the rest of my life with her. I worry I am staying with her just because I am afraid of being single again, and now having to date as a pre-op trans lesbian... (With bad fashion sense! Something she was helping with)
I don't know what to do. Any opinions would help.

From what I've experienced so far it's a juggling act between keeping your pitch and resonance both in girl range. If one falls out of that range you stop sounding like a girl.
