Everybody wants to spin the issue and use it to further their own retarded agendas. The Democrats are pushing for yet more gun control measures and the Republicans are scapegoating the immigration "crisis" again, or to a lesser extent, blaming the "spread" of Islam outright.
Everything gets turned into a fucking crisis. It's a tragedy, not a crisis. The guy was a lone gunman who acted of his own volition, not because he had any deep ties to known terrorist organizations. Why did he do it? We may never know. But it seems more likely to me that he was a powder keg just waiting to explode, probably because of numerous factors - being raised in an overly-religious household that condemned everything outside the family's insular way of life, and the guy himself probably was conflicted about his sexual orientation, especially with his family and religious background pressuring him to conform to something he wasn't.
Either way, the guy was another garden variety crazy with a gun and a sadly misconceived notion that killing people will somehow make everybody else "wake up" to his retarded perception of the world. More likely, these events will only have the opposite intended effect by drawing more sympathy to the plight of LGBT rights. And of course, it's just more ammunition for the whole liberal / conservative dichotomy to wage war over.

So lefties essentially want to allow their enemies to be imported into the country, and this will have disastrous consequences as their numbers and influence increases. But on the other hand, aside from allowing people to come in who hate us... the Democrats are also the only ones who are going to defend our rights.
We are in quite a pickle here. Do we want more mudslimes and protected rights, or do we want less mudslimes and rights potentially in jeopardy? Well you sort of shot yourself in the foot on this issue.
Liberals follow the progressive stack when dealing with minority groups and Muslims trump gays on that. From the beginning the main concern of the liberal establishment has been that the shootings would make people dislike Muslims or Muslim immigration. They didn't care about the gay community. If it had been a shooting of gays by a white Christian then they would have cared more because that fits their narrative better.
Conservatives (especially the alt-right) attempted to reach out to the gay community over this. We saw an issue which we had common cause over and wanted to help. Islam poses an existential threat to gay people and western civilisation as a whole. But the gay community told us to fuck off, they said they would never follow the 'politics of hate' and they didn't want anything to do with us.
I have had IRL conversations with gay people over this and they have told me that they would genuinely rather be thrown off a roof or stoned to death by Islamists than vote for a right wing candidate because voting left wing is the right thing to do and if they were killed by Muslims they themselves would still be good people.
That leaves the gay community alone and friendless. And while you are alone you lack the numbers and power to command media attention or sympathy.

This is not actually accurate though. Muslims are prescribed by their religion to hate gay people. They literally have to hate you, if they're going to be called Muslims.
Bring on the right wing however, only means a general preference for one of any number of collected right wing philosophies. Homosexuality can be reconciled with the right wing easier than it can be reconciled with Islam. In fact, given current polling all across the developed world, it already has.

Even Republicans - by far the most socially conservative mainstream party in the developed world - have even seen a growth in their approval of homosexuality and gay marriage.
