Gay marriage is next to irrelevant. All the good that comes out of it is that it helps normalize LGBT people as a whole. Normalization is what will help us long-term, as normalization makes it so people no longer overreact to us existing and won't attack us for it.
So, gay marriage is just a stepping stone to being actually safe.
