That situation isn't as rare as you'd think.
If you were to count every repressed religious gay and lesbian marriage you would probably end up with more marriages than actual gay and lesbian marriages.
My uncle on my Dad's side is in one of those marriages and has been for around 40 years I believe.
I also have a cousin who is almost certainly to be in one of those marriages. He goes from struggling with his "gay porn addiction" to suddenly he's marrying this girl he's been dating for less than a month. This was years ago and they still have no kids, which is a HUGE tell in our family.
There was also apparently a couple like that in my ward back when I actually went to church. My Mom tried to use him as an example of how I could be gay and Mormon at the same time.
