Hey lgbt, I was wondering what your view on this image would be. I think it makrs a lot of sense in view of the high suicide rate with trans people post op. Money not compassion driving the push etc. What do you guys thinks?
>>

It's retaded as hell and "the high suicide rate with trans people postop" is a fantasy Paul McHugh cooked up by misreading one swedish study whose authors told him to go fuck himself.
>>
>>5060117
Not to mention that it takes no account of people who began transition before the media was as "forgiving" towards trans people as it is today.
>>
Can we please shut the fuck up about this dumb ass shit.

Suicide rates do not go up, they go down they just dont match Cis suicide rates which is the dumbest fucking comparison

Also no one is making money off trans people
most trans people on not on hormones, the ones that are pay mostly out of pocket but here is the real interesting thing, hormones are cheep as shit
$10 a month for spiro $80 per every 6 months for E self injections with syringes shipped right to my house, all this without insurence, even more so such a small population does this it makes no sense, surgons make more off tit jobs, and face lifts the medical industry makes a shit ton more over the anti depressants that would be used to treat these people.
>>
OP here everyone chill the fuck out. I was just asking.
>>
>>5060169
No, you were just trolling. No one capable of forming even a well-intentioned sentence-fragment is mentally-deficient enough to believe that trans healthcare is a booming business working on building its market.
>>
>>5060208
Whoa you smart
>>
>>5060117
Well the neurological differences that we've observed include regions that are non-plastic past the womb. Transition is also an extremely effective treatment with a very low regret rate and post op modern transitioners have risk rates pretty much in-line with cis women, so probably not.
Also trans people are so rare and their treatment so relatively cheap in the big picture of healthcare costs that it hardly begs the type of conspiracy you imagine and it would be more profitable to just keep throwing ineffective psychiatric meds at them for the rest of their lives or just stick to the tried and true profitable addictive meds like pain killers.
But who knows! Maybe all medicine and science and evidence is wrong and your feels that it's just "le degenerates being crazy" or some kinda or medical conspiracy maybe involving the feminists or jews or someone else are the truth!

>media attention is the cause of gender dysphoria

>suicide rate
Actually
>>An established body of medical research demonstrates the effectiveness and medical necessity of mental health care, hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery as forms of therapeutic treatment for many people diagnosed with GID… Therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the AMA supports public and private health insurance coverage for treatment of gender identity disorder.

>McHugh does cite one study from 2011, by Cecilia Dhejne, MD and colleagues at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. However, he misunderstands Dr. Dhejnes work. In the paper, Dr. Dhejne states that the study was not designed to draw conclusions on the efficacy of transgender surgeries, yet McHugh does exactly that. A closer reading of the paper shows that the increased mortality is in those who had surgery before 1989, and that mortality in trans people after 1989 is not statistically different from the general population. A recently published paper by Dr. Dhejne and colleagues shows that the regret rate for those having surgery from 2001-2010 is only 0.3%. Dr. Dhejnes work shows that outcomes for transgender surgery have improved tremendously in the past 30 years, which supports the HHS decision to remove trans exclusions.
>The American Psychiatric Association and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health no longer view transgender identity as inherently pathological. Dr. McHughs views are stuck in the past.

>Dan Karasic, MD Health Sciences Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, UCSF Member, American Psychiatric Association Workgroup on Gender Dysphoria Member, Board of Directors, World Professional Association for Transgender Health
The studies all conclusively prove that after medical transition, the mortality drops to the general population rate. In other words no elevated suicide risk.

Also, hormones and stuff are actually profit loosing and have been out there since Percy Julian discovered how to turn yam oil into estrogen some 70 years ago. And like said in >>5060411 there is no elevated suicide rate at all.

There are many far more profitable things to go into. You need to learn the way medicine works.
>>
>>5060403
Not the cause, that's dumb. But the normalization of trans is definitely good for big medicine.
>>
>>5060117
I think they do it out of compassion, but it's not compassion for you as a person, just for your transness, after they finish the surgery, you get tossed to the side like garbage which is why suicide rates are still high (but lower than pre-op).
>>
>>5060424
hormones are not profitable, they're dirt cheap
and there are only a handful of medical centers in the world who deal with sex reassignment surgery.
>>
>>5060424
Not really, it's better for trans people, it's never been some big money-maker despite whatever your delusions may tell you.
It would be more profitable to just keep them on multiple more expensive and ineffective psychiatric and other medications for the rest of their lives or even institutionalize them as some raving /pol/tards suggest for trannies and gays and anyone else who upset their feels.
>>
>>5060424
The chart implies that media attention causes gender dysphoria.

You forgot to put a salesperson in the middle of the circle. Here, let me help you out.

But the surgeons who do the surgery are very wealthy. That's only because nobody else wants to do it though. Not a conspiracy or anything.

>view of the high suicide rate with trans people post op

Can we just let this meme die pretty please?
