OP here, here's my update.
So, I tried >>6256586 strategy, and it worked pretty well. He said he would hook me up with the artists. My hopes were still kind of dashed though. Remember how I mentioned that my friend of interest was interested in the military? Well, he's kind of already enlisted, and will be heading out to God knows where to build infrastructures in lesser developed places around the world for about 5 years. He heads out at the end of summer. Honestly, I kind of want to keep pushing to see if I could negotiate a hot, torrid summer fling, but I know I don't have the guts to attempt that, and it wouldn't really leave me fulfilled in the end.
