Either mtf or ftm.

I recently watched a Hjernevask episode on gender in the workplace. A study cited in the program indicated that hormones were directly or indirectly correlated with the interests of children and with their later career choices.

Did any of you notice a change in your interests after going on hrt? The study claimed that male hormones were associated with an interest in mechanical systems, understanding how processes work etc. while female hormones are associated with an interest in human interaction, showing increased empathy and language skills.

Have any of you noticed something like this? A change in interest or a lack of interest in your old job or hobbies?

Thanks, unrelated pic is a qt Fulani

Getting on T made me stop wanting to be a stay at home suicidal NEET and start going to college and get into paralegal studies but that's the only really change career-wise
>>
there's so many intersecting factors.

i'm gifted at math. but after a bit on hormones the classes became unbearable sausage fests, both in part to not relating to the others and them treating me weird.

so i switched out of a math major to a psych major.

im still gifted at math. but im a much less interested. i dont know if that's directly the hormones->me, or the hormones->environment->me

FTM and it made me want to be more social, I was an awkward autist fuck, I enjoy being with people now.

also math is a little more fun
>>
>>6241016
Was para-legal studies something you were interested in before?

How about your choice in entertainment, media etc. Was that affected?

>after a bit on hormones the classes became unbearable sausage fests
Interesting. Do you find your loss of interest is related to your dislike towards your class? Do you have any interest in math (or anything else you think is relevant) outside of school?

Thank both of you for your answers.

>FTM and it made me want to be more social
Do you reckon that's because you're more confident in after hrt, or an innate desire to socialise?

Thank you

All I have to say:
I'd screw anything
>>
hormones dont change interests. all of the examples in this thread are clearly due to other reasona
>>
>>6241064
its hard to seperate. i think the loss is directly related to the dislike of the students...

>interest in math outside of school?
not anymore.... purely pragmatic at this point
>>
>>6241090
>hormones dont change interests.
What makes you think that? The evidence gathered in the study showed a correlation, even females with high testosterone and vice versa showed the same symptoms

> all of the examples in this thread are clearly due to other reasona
Possibly. That's what I'm trying to find out. I was hoping to get enough replies to form even some very shaky evidence, just for my own opinions. I don't like to be misinformed.

Cool thanks for answering, it's a pretty autistic thread, I just wanted to see what yous thought

I dunno i'm ftm, not on t, but in my opinion have significantly high levels of test naturally

but i'm a mechanic, and usually love fucking around with the corvette in the garage, and spend most of my time fixing up cars,
but around 5 days before my period and on my period, when there's tons of estrogen flooding my system,
i noticed i find it extremely boring, tedious and confusing and spend most of my time shopping on amazon and watching beauty guru vlogs on youtube

not even kidding
>>
>>6240975

I've been on T for 3 years and it hasn't had any effect on my interests, personality, mood, skills, etc.

I'm better at social situations now because I'm more comfortable with myself but that's it. I'm just a little less awkward because I'm not sitting there hating myself the entire time.

V. interesting thanks.

Makes sense. Thank you

They were most likely talking about the organizational effects of hormones. During fetal development of the brain, hormone exposure is the cause for the gender it develops into. After that, hormones have activational effects, meaning they merely regulate the functions already put in place as a fetus.

Harald Eia is not a good source of information of any kind. The man is a moron. If you're interested in the subject you should do proper research.

I think I understand, however the study stated that higher test. levels among girls led to similar results. Would this contradict what you're saying?

I'm not a biologist so I'm not sure
>>
>>6241526
Sure, but it got me thinking. I'm trying to do my own research but couldn't find anything on trannies experiencing such a change. I know it's hardly waterproof science but I figured I might as well ask here given the lack of studies on the topic.
>>
>>6240975
No. feelings sometimes, interests never.
>>
My interest in economics was tye same on T, and off T, and I had to go off for financial reasons. So, no, not really.

My family is really into STEM stuff as a whole anyway, regardless of gender, so take this with a grain of salt.

Trans kids usually show interests related to their real gender, not birth assigned. That's not to say all gender nonconfirming kids are trans, or that all people who are trans are allowed to express their interests (parental/social pressure forcing 'normal' gender behaviour on their kids leading to repression and overcompensation). Socialisation can account for other differences.

HRT doesn't magically change your personality, unless you've had to affect a fake persona in the first place...

Tl;dr You're looking at this all wrong

I had a brief interest in becoming a lawyer when I was like 10
then again I also wanted to be president and egyptologist back then too

My choice in media might have effected it too. I was in a big depressive rut and my friend got me into the Ace Attorney series and it really picked my spirits back up. Around that time my mom was pestering me about college and one of my two college options had paralegal studies as a class so I decided to go "hey why not become a paralegal"
>>
>>6240975
the only thing i noticed after starting T is that i've been craving breakfast cereal
>>
My hobby is drawing and making cool shit. A couple months after getting on T, I got bored of working with metal and bought a sewing machine and began drooling over beautiful fabrics, kek.

Nah, but seriously it might fit your thing, because for my purposes there's more systematic planning involved in making garments as opposed to the linearity of cutting out shapes and welding them together.
>>
i care less about physics now than i did two years ago pre estrogen but i was only doing it to impress my dad kek, and i got redpilled on critical theory and find it difficult to take "science" as an establishment serious anymore.

machine shop is really cool though, i wish i could get a job doing that. all the machine shop people are dorky old white guys who are probably nice to me because im young and pretty but theyre sweet and fun to shoot the shit with anyway. working with metal is just dang satisfying.
>>
>>6241016
i am mtf and i experienced the same with E

except that about getting into paralegal studies
>>
>>6241083
Not that anon but I'm much more social, like going outside, etc. I don't think I'm that much more confident, but estrogen really fucked with my emotions and anxiety. It turned that roller coaster into smooth sailing.
>>
>>6248646
>got redpilled on critical theory
Please debate me Anon. I've tried so hard to get into critical theory and continental philosophy but I always come away thinking that most of their claims are either false, or true but uninteresting.

What do you mean when you don't take science seriously as an institution? It's perfectly legitimate to study the way in which actually existing scientific institutions are susceptible to bias, but does this extend to a deeper epistemic skepticism about the possibility of the development of objective scientific theories? For example, is it in principle impossible to develop a complete and objective fundamental physics because we have cultural biases that are impossible to transcend? (I'm aware that my use of the phrase "in principle" implicitly relies on a distinction between actually existing science and science itself in the abstract, and as a hardcore reductionist I myself don't think that such a distinction is really legitimate, but one can think about, say, whether given infinite time and resources humans could develop a final objective physics that everyone could verify and agree on, or if there's something in reality that would prevent that.)

Also, you say you don't take science seriously, but science has given us a lot of technology, like computers, planes, modern medicine, etc. If you're sick, you'll trust what science says, not what any other "narrative" says. Doesn't that imply that you take science seriously and give it special consideration?
