If someone is upset about something, you can't just say "lol what you believe is bullshit" and expect them to go "wow I never thought of it like that, I feel great now :D" They may rationally know that what you're saying is true, but that doesn't change the emotions.
There's also something to be said for the experience of having a heterosexual marriage and having and raising biological children, which really can't be replicated any other way except by doing it. If that's something you wanted and you find out you can't have it, then it's natural to mourn the loss of that possibility.
