not all vegans are pretentious, preachy assholes about food... i'm vegan (except honey) cuz i'm allergic to eggs and dairy (and other shit but yeah...) and eating meat is gross to me
not cuz of the animal rights activist thing, but cuz having been raised eating it i had a lot of weird habits like dissecting meat into tiny pieces to examine it and if any undesirable pieces were in it ... like fat or veins or a piece that just looked gross + the entire time i'd eat it i'd start obsessively thinking about how it was flesh and i'm made of similar flesh and it'd make me feel sick and more often than not i'd end up spitting it out and tossing the rest... in addition to not being able to touch it with my bare hands or cook it... so after years of on and off trying to make myself ok with eating meat (i would stop for long periods of time) i realized i can't and stopped completely years ago (just like i can't have a clock in my bedroom, life is much easier without it... not eating meat is no different to me than that)
i don't care what other people eat (unless you count being jealous of people being able to eat pizza and such) or think my diet is somehow superior... i even bake stuff i can't consume for other people... so yeah... it's not like there's just one shared group mentality, vegans aren't the borg
he probably just said his current lifestyle choice so that people can be aware when feeding him... so just see how he acts from there... though if he becomes one of those assholes posting animal slaughter videos next to lies about people not having the teeth for eating meat and whatnot well... he's your brother and it's ok for you to punch him
